WTF

Man kills himself while watching “Watchmen”

watchmen_smiley

A 24-year-old Oregon man was at a cinema watching Watchmen, sitting in the back of the theater, when he took out a gun and committed suicide.

About halfway through the movie, people in the theater reported hearing a popping sound. He was found dead by the time rescue workers arrived.

The closest person sitting near him was 2 rows away.

Oh-  and only 10 people were in the theater watching the Watchmen- man, that movie really fell off, huh?

Oh, yeah, too bad for the guy who killed himself. That sucks.

It was a hard one, because it was so specific with the premiere, red carpet and Owl Ship… It was hard to pick top 3 because everyone did such a fantastic job! But, I had to pick, so here they are: (note the all-Asian prom. he he)

“Watchmen” screenwriter asks you to watch again

watchmen

Watchmen screenwriter David Hayter spent 10 years writing the big screen adaptation, and after the underperformance last weekend and the seemingly bad word of mouth the movie is getting, he’s asking for one more chance. Everyone involved in the movie is hoping the second weekend doesn’t plummet in the box office.

Hayter wrote an open letter on Hardcore Nerdity asking everyone to please see the movie again.

“If the film made you think. Or argue with your friends. If it inspired a debate about the nature of man, or vigilante justice, or the horror of Nixon abolishing term limits. If you laughed at Bowie hanging with Adrian at Studio 54, or the Silhouette kissing that nurse. Please go see the movie again next weekend. You have to understand, everyone is watching to see how the film will do in its second week. If you care about movies that have a brain, or balls, (and this film’s got both, literally), or true adaptations — And if you’re thinking of seeing it again anyway, please go back this weekend, Friday or Saturday night. Demonstrate the power of the fans, because it’ll help let the people who pay for these movies know what we’d like to see. Because if it drops off the radar after the first weekend, they will never allow a film like this to be made again.”

Watchmen underperformed

Watchmen

Watchmen was supposed to make HUGE numbers this weekend… And at the very least, surpass the opening box office for 300 which was $70 million.

But, Watchmen only made $55.7 million last weekend. And even though that’s tons of money and it came in first place, it isn’t what the studios and Zack Snyder were hoping for.

I think the word of mouth hasn’t been so great and that’s what killed it.

If you saw "Watchmen", did you like it?
