Sherlock Holmes is a fictional character of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries who first appeared in publication in 1887. He is the creation of Scottish-born author and physician Arthur Conan Doyle. A brilliant London-based “consulting detective”, Holmes is famous for his intellectual prowess, and is renowned for his skilful use of astute observation, deductive reasoning and inference to solve difficult cases.

Doesn’t sound like this movie at all and this seems like it is set in the Wild Wild West Of London like someone said earlier, also I agree it looks like The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen or it could be Die Hard: Ground Zero with Sherlock being John McClane’s Great Great Uncle.

Think this film I will leave alone, Guy Ritchie has not made a good film in ages, so that puts me off as well (RocknRolla was average at best but in between Snatch and that they were awful films in that 9 years), having said that this will likely be a hit amongst the action fan film goers and Sherlock Holmes will be forever tainted with being yet another Die Hard type character.
RDJ is a genius and Guy Ritchie was once viable but this trailer did nothing for me. It looks like a hot mess of a movie that doesn’t know what it wants to be.

this is a movie i am actually looking forward to. just the trailer alone was exciting. just hoping that’s not the only good scenes. i wouldn’t think so though because Jr does good stuff.

Has anyone who is cheering about this ever seen a Sherlock Holmes movie before, or god forbid, read a book?…that is no Sherlock Holmes movie.
On one hand it looks like it’ll be a action comedy type deal, like Wild Wild West or Rush Hour. On the other hand, that means it’ll not at all be “classic” Holmes. Either way, I’d still like to see it, I guess.
I can’t judge an entire movie based on a trailer. Anything can be taken out of context. Still hope it’s a good one, though.

If you’re going to make a generic action hero movie, why soil the name of “Sherlock Holmes” with it?

I’ve said this before but I still think of Downey playing Moriarty more than Holmes. I’m not uninterested but I’m hoping to see some more typical Sherlock Holmes type stuff in future trailers.

I’m a pretty big Sherlock Holmes fan. I think Robert Downey Jr. is a very good actor, and I’m a huge fan of Guy Ritchie’s earlier work. However…
The trailer makes the movie look useless, stupid, and VERY far from the overall feeling of the Sherlock Holmes series. I TRULY hope the trailer is misleading as to the overall nature of the film, which they often are to attract a wider audience (and the fact that they use so much of what appear to be the same 2 scenes makes this a distinct possibility).
But with my luck, the movie will be EXACTLY as the trailer makes it seem. ~_~;;;
This movie looks a little too “League of Extraordinary Gentlemen” for my taste.

I thought Depp had the part? And, what’s with the kicking and fighting and all the ladies man crap. Didn’t he do all that in Ironman. I would love to see a realistic Sherlock Holmes that’s interesting, mysterious, and maybe even scary. Looks like another Nicholas Cage action thriller and those movies suck!

The trailer is hilarous and full of action. If the writers can keep with the character of the book and add the stuff above. This movie may be worth watching.
