Save the Elephants! Boycott the circus!
I did a campaign for PETA to help save the elephants that are being abused by the Ringling Bros Circus and the first billboard goes up today to get the word out (Highland and Wilshire in Los Angeles)
These beautiful animals are meant to roam free in nature and live wonderful, long lives. But instead, they’re chained up, electro-shocked and beat by employees of Ringling Bros all in the hopes that we, the public, will pay to see these giant majestic creatures standing on a stupid little ball.
Please take a minute to think about that. Think about how hard life is sometimes even for you, but from the outside everyone, your friends and family, might think it’s so great.
If everyone really knew what happened behind the closed doors of Ringling Bros… what really goes on behind the flashy lights and music… I’m convinced you’ll join me in my BOYCOTT OF RINGLING BROS and BARNUM AND BAILEY CIRCUS.
Because if you can still go to the circus, watch these shows, clap and laugh even though you know how they abuse the elephants… then maybe you’re the one that needs the electroshock.

For all you shit talkers responding to this, I recommend you find a cheap woman to follow…one without strong ideals and opinions. Olivia just isn’t for you.
I support PETA because there are not many organizations who go to such lengths to work in uncompromised favor of animals. Yes, PETA will attempt to guilt you and shock you into agreement, but it is all based on facts and is quite a successful approach. If you’re offended by them, perhaps it’s because you have reflected on their message and felt in your heart that you’re wrong.
Today, at Bamboozle Rooadshow, I signed a pledge saying I wouldnt go to the circus. Felt it was needed to let you know.
U just earned alot more respect from me by doing that. I was protesting with PETA the last time that Ringling Bros came to Miami.
Helping to preserve and protect wildlife is a good and noble cause, yes, but PETA totally disregards human life in the process of doing so. They’re a domestic terrorist organization that openly endorses criminal activities like vandalism and arson.
If a person wants to get involved with efforts to prevent animal cruelty, I find it a noble and worthy cause to commit to, but why a blatantly violent organization like PETA instead of the World Wildlife Foundation or the SPCA, organizations that we know aren’t abusive to people in their cause of animal protection?
Does the SPCA or WWF work to help animals used in chemical testing at Proctor & Gamble? Do they work to stop using animals for human entertainment? We have no right to use or abuse any living thing. Yes PETA uses shock tactics. Sometimes you must fight with all you have to speak for those with no voice.

LOL.. You being naked on the cover is great but.. iuno what it has to do with saving elephants. To be honest.. I thought this was a joke at first.. I can care less about an elephant when I have trouble finding dinner for myself and my family. I think petas full of shit and should focus more attention on human suffering.. like really.. who goes to haiti and focuses on saving DOGS? LOL gtfo out of here. First, let me say that I’m a fan of Olivia. I have been ever since I first saw her on AOTS. Her charm, humor and intelligence won me over pretty much immediately. Is she beautiful? Sure. But honestly, the world is filled with attractive people, and most of them you can see naked if you truly try, so that matters less to me. And no, that doesn’t mean that I think Olivia should pose fully nude. Get over that, would some of you please?
Let me also say that I haven’t been to a circus since I was 10. I’ve just never really enjoyed them, so I don’t spend my money on them.
Having said all the above, it’s somewhat disappointing that Olivia would not only align herself with PETA, but would also encourage others to do so. PETA has consistently shown an almost pathological hatred of people, while showing a distinct lack of even a basic understanding of animal behavior.
That isn’t to say that people don’t abuse animals. But when you put forth the idea that animals and humans should be treated equally, in all circumstances, you’ve crossed over into fantasy land.
Should the abuse of animals, especially for the benefit of human entertainment, stop? Absolutely. Is PETA going to stop it? I wouldn’t lay money on it. They have next to no mainstream credibility, and most ignore anything that has their name attached to it for that very reason.
I’m still a fan, and hope that Olivia continues to enjoy even more success. But, I wouldn’t support PETA if my mother asked me, so no offense, I’m certainly not going to do it for Olivia.

I thought there wasn’t anything unattractive about Olivia until this. While bringing to light the perils of circus animals is an admirable cause, did she have to associate herself with PETA? This group is known throughout the US as a bunch of nut jobs! I make it a habit to do just the opposite of anything they stand for. I just can’t describe how much I hate them. Had she taken a different approach I would be much more likely to look into this.
Olivia - THANK YOU for your raising awareness on the important issue of animal abuse and neglect in the circus - which sadly is the norm for all circuses that continue to use animals. Thank you Olivia for spreading the word and showing footage of the cruel and inhumane treatment of elephants in the circus. England is almost on the brink of banning all animals in the circus. Canada has banned the use of animals in the circus, as has Bolivia and other countries. In this country it takes high profile people and celebrities like yourself to get the word out. Congratulations to you for recognizing that this issue needs to be addressed and for informing the public! Your billboard will bring so much awareness to this issue. It is celebrities like you that truly make a difference. Ignore what people say about being nude on a billboard - the body is a beautiful thing I think everyone could agree, and if they have issues with that, it is their personal problem. I really hope that attaching your name to this cause makes a big difference and wakes up my generation to the truth about animal abuse behind the scenes at the circus.

I’ve been aware of animal abuse, specifically regarding elephants and tigers, in the circus for years. The evidence is now blatantly clear in undercover footage that is being shown at RinglingBeatsAnimals.com. It’s my hope that now that this has become completely transparent to the public, that the USDA will seize Ringling’s elephants and put them into a safe place where they will no longer be abused.
This is not something to overlook. These majestic animals are being struck violently with sharp weapons. If this kind of animal abuse was taking place with dogs in a neighbor’s backyard, those pets would be taken away from my neighbors. Why is it any different when it comes to a circus organization? These people should be raising money to stop animal abuse, not getting money for abusing animals and forcing them to perform under extreme distress. This abuse must be stopped now.
The Animal Welfare Act must be enforced in this situation. Please make sure this happens. Don’t let this go on for yet another month, year, or decade.

Olivia, as a longtime vegan and fan of yours, I admire your taking a stance on animal cruelty. However, I must point out the irony of one of PETA’s many hypocritical practices: exploiting woman to raise awareness of exploitation of animals. There are many more effective, less exploitative ways to combat animal cruelty and I’m sure that someone with your drive and influence could do the cause great justice if you focused your efforts in the right direction. I agree with everything you said on this video and I believe that if one is looking for a dog, they should go to the local animal shelter and see if the have a pet for you before you go and pay way to much money for a dog. 2 of my dogs were lost dogs and instead of sending them to the pound we kept them and we rescued our third from the pound and they are amazing animals. the thing is those are pretty much the only things that Peta and I agree on and yes it does feel like there using Olivia in this ad.

I never understand PETA and what they are trying to persuade people to think with nude women in their propaganda. This ad only makes want to see the Circus even more (while eating a beefy burger).
PETA kills more animals every year than any other organization. They pickup critters from people and promise to find homes, then, outside in the van they kill the dog/cat and throw it in a rubbish bin. That is their typical practice. No one finds fewer homes for animals than PETA because they don’t try to place animals; they just kill them. They want your money not your unwanted animals.

Something odd is happening however. She looks as if she has growing issues about her looks. She seems to be always turning in a manner to hide her lower regions, strange efforts to create some form of cleavage.
She is always seeking some attention in the form of laying out in sexy outfits, but they seem overtly airbrushed - like contradictions of someone who is proudly exploiting oneself. The recent PETA thing, these photos, etc., all seem oddly contrived.
Olivia may see the clock ticking, and wants a bigger career, before the youthful good looks change, and the changes of womanhood prove a little problematic.
So many young Girls start out posing in their late teens, even the POP Stars, face a tough reality when they mature. And many show some real problems with their acceptance of their aging figures.

Like mentioned previously, I think you are a decent person, but come on. PETA has a reputation for being extremist and using semi-terrorist tactics. (Although I’m all for you getting nekked, it has nothing to do with elephants, since that whole concept was to protest fur) If you are using PETA to join the ranks of the other ignorant celebrities, I regret to say that IMO this move has lost you some respect among your intelligent fans. If your intentions were sincere, I would suggest that you direct your energy towards an organization that actually helps animals, such as the Humane Society. You would be surprised how many animals that PETA puts to sleep.
I’m concerned about your recent activities. It’s like you’re barely on AOTS lately, and it really seems like you’re trying to break away from the show and expand your own career. I encourage you to do such, but it’s rather annoying when all of your magazine appearances focus on you as the vital spark of AOTS, when the truth is that most of the other G4 hosts would be competent, if not more suited to host the show.
Again, I’m a fan, but if you’re going to keep expanding your career I hope that you don’t succumb to the conformity and ignorance of the rest of the media.

PETA is a questionable organization but they do help raise awareness. There is no reason for some of you to be so awful to Olivia for doing this. There are clearly a few people here who support animal cruelty.

I’ve been out of town so I just saw this. PETA isn’t questionable, they’re full of shit. That’s just fact. Sorry, I meant my opinion, but I won’t get into all the reasons. I’ve read a few of the comments, but don’t really feel like reading all of them so I don’t know exactly which ones you’re referring to. I am definitely not for animal cruelty, and I can’t actually say what happens everywhere because I don’t know. However, I do know that video editing equipment/programs are really easy to come by these days, and most animal rights organizations know this, too. I would never trust PETA, HSUS, or many of the others to tell me if a video was ‘real’. I do support the humane treatment of these and all other animals, but the problem with lending your name and face to one aspect of PETA is that you, by association, support every other aspect. Unfortunately, the other, actually reputable organizations don’t have as good of an advertising or PR department or the uninformed donations to get them. I do have to admit, though, PETA’s got some great costume designers. Plus, they make fun of PETA on the show.

wow.i’m completely out of the loop. i didn’t know that ringling abused there elephants. i have a friend who works with them and she wouldn’t rather die then see them get hurt. i’m also wondering if peta is willing to pay to have them protected if they are put back in the wild from pouchers. i also had a friend go to africa on vacation and had pictures and most of the elephants are really underweight from lack of food. so the idea of them being released is great but if the elephants already in africa are having problems how are the ones that been in the wild going to be able to handle it. peta needs to think about whole picture. i am an animal lover but peta is a little too shady of a group

At Spain and some othe rcountries they are forbidding circus with animals.
It’s just a human sense of knowledge superiority against human bestiality or ignorance. When you ignore something that produces pain to others, it is reasonably admissible, but if you know that it hurts others, then you are not a good human being.
