Oh happy day for stoners!!

Young Obama smoking weed.

Young Obama smoking weed.

On Monday the Nobel Peace Prize Winner Barrack Obama issued new guidelines for arresting those who are both legally selling and buying the marijuana.

The new policy tells prosecutors to stop wasting their time going after those in compliance with the state law, specifically those providing or using medical marijuana.

The 3 page long memo urges the prosecutors in the 14 states allowing medical marijuana and to top officials at the FBI and Drug Enforcement Administration to go after marijuana cases that involve violence, the illegal use of firearms, selling pot to minors, money laundering or involvement in other crimes.

While the DEA and FBI may be upset about the new policy, medical marijuana advocates are excited that the Obama has kept his word on changing the policy.

Bruce Mirken of the Marijuana Policy Project says the change “moves the federal government dramatically toward respecting scientific and practical reality.”

13 states now allow the use of medical marijuana and 14 states currently have medical marijuana legislation pending.

Here are the lucky 13… in case you’re thinking of moving:

Alaska, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Maine, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington.

  1. Everyone that replies to this post is invited to Bill Murray’s mansion to smoke out of his hookah with the one and only “White Widow”!… I have an urge to move to Cali as I’m slowly developing a mood disorder….

  2. Nice shot!!

  3. Obama looks kinda sexy in that pic…I don’t smoke, but I’d light up with him.

  4. This is a bullshit effort.

There is PURIFIED THC available in pills for people who need the therapeutic affects.

    • Because George W. Bush done YEARS worth of damage to this country, and Obama has only been assigned the task of cleaning his mess since January 20th of this year. It’s gonna take more then just a few months to repair this country.

  8. legalize shrooms. the best drug in the world

  9. I BELIEVE THAT POT ISNT REALLY THAT BAD I MEAN THINK ABOUT IT THERE WAS A GUY ON THE NEWS THAT HAD TO SMOKE POT MEDICALLY BECAUSE CANCER AND BACK PROBLEMS……GUESS WHAT?!?!?! HE HAS A 14 YEAR OLD VERY AUTISTIC SON AND IT IS THE ONLY THING KEEPING THE MAN ON THE RITE TRAK TO RAISE HIS SON!! SO ALL THE PEOPLE THAT THINK IT MAKES YOU STUPID?!?!?!?!….. YES IT WIL CAUSE SOME MEMORY LOSS MAINLY SHORT TERM MEMORY BUT IT REALLY CAN HELP PEOPLE ALSO.I JUST FEEL BAD FOR PEOPLE THAT REALLY DO NEED IT AND CANT GET IT THRU DRS SO THEY HAVE TO DO IT ILLEGALLY ANYHOW.THE LAW AGAINST MARIJUANA DOESNT STOP THE CRIME IT JUST MAKES A LOTTA PEOPLE SMARTER ON WHO AND WHERE THEY GET IT FROM. I GUESS IM ON THE BORDERLINE OF LEGALIZING WHAT MIGHT SHOULD BE LEGAL. I THINK THERE SHOULD BE A PETITION FOR EVERYBODY TO SIGN FOR AND AGAINST POT!!! TAKE A UNITED STATES TOLL ARE THERE MORE AMERICAN POT SMOKERS THAN NOT?????

  10. dea sux dick haha

  11. people shouldn’t have to die over pot, think about it! it should be not against the law bc there people out there that are sick and dieing they need to feel better so wat the fuck wheres the love! people with cancer HIV and AIDS and people are in wheel chairs with other problem wat no other drugs can give them beside medical canibiss

  12. red dragons!!! fuck yeah

  13. WEED IS THE SHIT, we know Obama is holding down the white house with the presidential kush. :)

  14. I’ve never had a spiritual experience from drinking alcohol, but I have had quite a few spiritual experiences while smoking pot. Other than when I was a teenager, I’ve never smoked pot just for shits and giggles. I have always held it in a spiritual context, and almost always smoked it alone under a clear star-filled sky, late at night while on an empty beach. Common sense and scientific research will prevail, no matter how long it may take.

  15. Saw a “doctor” on TV today who prescribes “medical marijuana” in CA. He said 2/3 of the people he prescribes it for are because of anxiety, depression, and other “mood disorders”. In other words, BS that “Doctor Happy” can use to sell pot prescriptions legally. It was hilarious. Give me some coke while you’re at it. I’m feeling kind of lethargic.

  16. oh god…here come more people to populate california hahah XD

    Yay for Stoners!

Obama has style. He looks pimpish with that fro. To me he’s Ohana.

  18. meh, its something. i mean youre obviously dreaming if you think obama was going to decriminalize it like he should.

its okay though. in time facts and common sense always overcomes ignorant misconceptions and false propaganda…

    • I smoked my own weight in herb when I was in my early 20s. I’ve probably forgotten more about it than you’ll ever know. I have no interest in seeing it legalized. It sucks. Might as well just take a few years of your life and flush them down the toilet.

      • oh and unless youre deeper than 15 years at an ounce a month, then no. lol good try at assuming though….

      • yeah, laws should be based on fact and common sense, not your personal failures. if you ended up being a wino that would suck too.

doesnt mean we should bring back 20’s style prohibition. means we should be giving people a real education on facts and consequences, like we do alcohol, instead of dea sponsored propaganda lies.

that way people would know its cool not to smoke your life away, just we know about drinking. problem is we tell kids its like coke and heroin, and when young teenagers know theyre being patronized they stop listening.

that is why youll find less people smoke pot in a place like amsterdam than the us or canada.

common sense and real results. go figure…

  19. How awesome is that picture of Obama! PS.. note to self… move to Alaska, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Maine, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, or Washington

  20. HEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY……I’M COUGHING AS I TYPE THIS!!!….
    OOOOOOOOOOOOO…..K

  21. Awesome-O

  22. smoke it toke it

  23. could care less either way, but i hate when people say its completely harmless. it can cause severe memory loss among other things. most stoners are fucking morons

  24. legalization is right around the corner.
social acceptance is still decades away.

  25. I love my state of Michigan. :-)

    Next step: legalization.

  26. Use of medical marijuana dose not make it legal for anyone living in the 13 states ……..I have a few friends that do it legit through the system.Hopefully other states will adopt it so it can help out the people that really can use it.

  27. I’ve heard it said, by my representative in the Federal Government, that the only reason Canada hasn’t decriminalized pot is due to pressure from the US Federal Government. They were told that it would create nightmarish conditions along the border, essentially saying that they’d lock up the border a hell of a lot tighter if Canada passed any bill decriminalizing it across Canada. And our politicians, choosing the easy way out, caved in to the pressure.

I just wonder how this will effect medicinal crack and medicinal whoring now.

  29. It’s still more fun to go to Amsterdam to get stoned…but a plane ticket to any of the ‘legal’ states would be cheaper!

  30. The only reason the DEA and FBI are upset is caues they have to justify their existence.

  31. Sweet. This sounds like some forward movement. Maybe you should stop going on the crappy radio shows and go discuss it with dr drew perhaps?

  32. Loner to the end. sorry O.M. | October 19, 2009 at 3:42 pm

Are my comments even going thru ?

  33. I am 1 of the 13 GO MAINE!!

  34. Everybody must get stoned ! ! ! (and I don’t even smoke marajuana).

  35. Kyle W. Orstead | October 19, 2009 at 3:31 pm

It may not be complete but it is progress in the right direction. I think as long as you respect pot enough to not abuse it for money and just enjoy it for yourself with out gluteny there is no problem with it. It is like all things enjoy in moderation.

    • Bill Krausmann | October 19, 2009 at 7:57 pm

Are you serious? As long as no one abuses it? This is America, land of the free and home of the gluttony. This is why you have to be 21 to have booze and why pot is still illegal.

  36. I thinked we shood awl be hitting the bawng?

  37. All I know is PA is one of the 14 with pending legislation.

We’ll probably be the last ones again…just like with the budget…

  38. JesusRodriguez | October 19, 2009 at 3:10 pm

    YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!,*heads to his dispensary*

  39. This means absolutely nothing, setting guidelines is not like making it a law. Prosecutors will still go after Marijuana until actual legislation is made. What a joke.

  40. This is great, except it means nothing. All it says is to stop focussing on petty medical marijuana crimes. This is essentially the same thing as stopping prosecution for catching someone with other peoples meds. In order to even be prescribed medical marijuana, you have to live in one of those mentioned states, and have a serious medical issues that must be determined by a right minded doctor. It will be as hard to get as percosset junkies begging the doc for some meds to cure a mild headache. It just won’t happen for the usual or malignerer. I think it’s great that they stop messing with the controlled substance abuse cases though. It’s the governments weed, and basically this is a way to reward blue falcons who give up the name of the dealer.

  41. AJ you are a freakin idiot!!!! Your comment was as useful as runaway balloon.

    • I have to agree. I hate the stupid generalizations that people make, both liberal and conservative and for one group to feel that their talking points take precedence over another is completely preposterous. I am unemployed due to the Republicans making it easier for American jobs to get shipped over seas, not because of my own laziness. I don’t require State assistance, I have 2 kids, and go to school full-time now that I don’t have a job. I have made the deans list every semester and am in Phi Theta Kappa as well. Got what a lazy unemployed piece of shit I am!!! I wish I could be as productive as AJ. It must be exhausting to denigrate and pigeon hole large groups of people (the unemployed) at a time while trying to apply caveman-like rationale. Nobody can be that stupid, but then again you did shout it out like a proud redneck at a tractor pull!! I feel sorry for your parents.

  42. kenny_num_nums | October 19, 2009 at 2:49 pm

Does this mean that B Obama can smoke pot legally?
    Even at press conferences.
Its not fair as I am forced to smoke this very tasty joint illegally.

  43. Markus E-bear | October 19, 2009 at 2:43 pm

Obviously, most of you are confused on the part about medicinal uses. That means you can only use it if you are issued a subscription for it! this doesn’t mean that you can be like oh hey it’s legal now so we can do it whenever we want. It’s for people with like cancer because it helps them, not for regular people [AJ] and why would they make it buyable on food cards. thats just dumb.

  44. Awesome. Finally the DEA gets a stop to their nonsense. If they are going by the state laws why would you go and arrest em? Violent related crimes are what they need to stop, not people who have dispensaries.

  45. Oh no! The Prison Industry is going to lose so much money!
    What was Obama thinking?
Focusing on marijuana cases that involve violence, the illegal use of firearms, selling pot to minors, money laundering or involvement in other crimes?!?!

Obama should invest more money in building more prisons to fit ALL stoners.

  46. cmon illinois!

  47. AJ - You’re an idiot. I dont need to say any more than that.
