The Low-Down in Tinsel Town

scream2009.jpg

We all made it through another week! Hip hip hooray!  Here’s some Hollywood gossip that you guys might actually care about.  Or at least it’s stuff I care about.  Have a great weekend!  xoxo

‘The Hobbit’ slated for the end of 2012 - bummer…

Via SlashFilm who got it from a Variety article

Spider-Man News - Do you think the re-boot film directed by ‘500 Days of Summer’ skipper, Marc Webb, will be better or worse than Sam Raimi’s franchise?

- Clive Owen as Kraven the Hunter possibly.  Via WorstPreviews.com

- Franco and Dunst down for re-boot.  Via E! Online

Rumor has it that Ghostbusters 3 will be in 3D - I guess that’s an added bonus.  Just want them to hurry up and finish!

via MarketSaw

Terry Gilliam Interview - He gives his thoughts on Avatar, which are interesting.  Who all have seen ‘The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus’? Did you like it?

via The Onion A.V. Club

Red Band Trailer for ‘Hot Tub Time Machine’ - Looks like it could be a good ole fashion knee slapper. Opinions? Clark Duke co-hosted AOTS with me once; so it has to be awesome.

via Ain’t It Cool News

And in case you missed it, here I am with Clark Duke just chillaxin’

  1. not a fan of the spider man reboot i liked what they were doing already and shouldnt have rebooted it until toby and sam raimi stopped making money at it which knowing sam raimi that wouldnt have happened

  2. BLUE IS MY FAVORITE COLOR! for real no bullshit …

  3. I really want to see Ghostbusters 3 in 3D because of the returning cast of Bill Murray and friends, plus the giant marshmallow dude is gonna terrorize the city in 3D! It should be aweomse.

  4. I saw Terry Gilliam’s “Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus”. Loved it, but the ending was a bit unusual for him (those who keep up with his movies will know what I mean).

But from it I am positive of 2 things: 1.) Terry Gilliam should direct the Bioshock movie, if they ever make one & 2.) Tom Waits (from Dr. Parnassus) would have to play Sander Cohen, again should the Bioshock movie come to fruition.

  5. The reboot of Spidey will suck. Word has it they’re focusing more on teen angst than fighting bad guys. FAIL!

  6. ugh… the only reason i was remotely excited for a spider-man reboot was the possibility of casting an actual attractive woman to play Mary Jane.

  7. Hot Tub Time Machine is AWESOME!!! I got to see an advance screening of it, I was cracking up the whole time!!!

  8. The switch from Sam Raimi/Tobey Maguire Spidey 4 to a high school kid version means I will not be following that series anymore. I’m sure the kiddies fawning over Justin Beiber and the Jonases will love it, but those of us with taste really were looking forward to another great entry in the “adult” Spiderman series.

  9. I LOVE (500) Days of Summer, but really a reboot of Spidey in HS?! Why? if this is to pull in the Twilight kids, then it will blow!

  10. I don’t understand why Spiderman needs to be a high school student again. A struggling college student with a part time job and and the usual problems seems better in terms of story ideas.
3D or not, I’m always good to see another Ghostbuster movie.
I never saw a Terry Gilliam movie I didn’t like.
Not sure about Hot Tub Time Machine. It could be dumb fun or just dumb. Cusack has a decent track record despite 2012.
Speaking of 2012, I think watching the Hobbit on the last day of earth might not be a bad way to go.

  11. Woah there Olivia, I think you may have younger fans, so how about an age verification for a red band trailer next time… Hmm?

  12. “- Franco and Dunst down for re-boot.”

Yeah, ’cause they’d TOTALLY pass for high school students! That’d be like Drew Berrymore playing a reporter who infiltrates a highschool for a story, oh wait…

As for Hot Tub, the chick with huge tits in the tub with the black dude, how is that not Heather Graham? I mean, that is HER role right?

  13. My only complaint about waiting 2 more years for the Hobbit is that it means Guillermo del Toro won’t have an opportunity to make a film in between. He is really one of the most under rated directors working today.

500 Days of Summer definitely had a freshness that I think Spider-man could get and put some of the fun back into the wall crawler. I missed the quippy Spidey in the first trilogy. I’m hopeful, but a lot will have to do with who they hire to write it, and who they cast. I’m okay with the director so far.

Ghostbusters in 3D? that seems like a no-brainer. Imagine the proton packs firing right out of the screen! = ) Though to be honest, from what I have heard about the script I am quite concerned as to the actual quality of comedy involved.

And for Hot Tub Time Machine, I already got free tickets to an advance screening early next month. Not sold on it COMPLETELY yet, but hey its free = )

Now give us some sweet dirt on Tron Legacy!

  14. Saw the German dubbed version of “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus” on Monday and thought that it was really good. Maybe Gilliam’s best yet!

“Hot Tub TIme Machine” still seems to be hilarious. Really looking forward to that one.

    Spider-Man is still LAME!!!

BTW: Just received your MYMAG and loving it. The excerpts from the book are great and the pics are amazing.

  15. house of exile by lucky dube

  16. dear present day olivia,(sorry i’m late, always in class)
if your pet ‘pine’ was a f!!kin drop of a f!!kin man, he’d have mittens, coat, hat, scarf and ear muffs prepared for you..
    s.w.a.l.k by mickey dread :(
j/k lol! my love is endless

  17. The Hobbit is set for release in 2012….hmmm…according to my Ancient Mayan Calender, that’s a very bad year for a film release. I’m real excited about the upcoming Ghostbusters film,I feel it may actually be a good movie…but all this 3-D stuff..is a little..meh (IMO). I mean, 3-D films wouldn’t be so bad, if you didn’t have to wear those god-aweful 3-D glasses..

Lastly, my opinion of 500 Days of Summer Director, Marc Webb, being at the helm of the upcoming Spiderman movie is a “it might be great, if done right” attitude. Sam Raimi’s first two Spidey films were as good as it gets..(let’s try and forget about the 3rd film, shall we..). Director Marc Webb does has some big shoes to fill. replacing Raimi…I hoping he can pull it off.

Thanks again Olivia, for another “Low-Down in Tinsel Town”. I hope you’re having a good weekend as well! Iloveumuchkbye. =)

  18. I read all those articles and not once did anyone mention the wonderful gem of a film known as ‘Internet Dating’? This is blasphemy!

  19. The Hobbit’ slated for the end of 2012…booo

  20. Sucks the Hobbit will not be released soon. I highly doubt that the reboot will be any better than the first 3 spiderman movies. And would rather have Ghostbusters released sooner than having it in 3D.

  21. Spidey need an actual woman and not someone like Dunst. I never was happy with her as MJ.

  22. Some other gossip you failed to mention: Olivia Munn and Chris Pine reportedly split. Then… Chris Pine and Olivia Munn are still on, seen at two parties in NYC. Howard Stern has said that one of the keys of broadcasting is being open and honest — not being fake. To talk about Hollywood gossip and not mention that you have been a subject lately is kind of lame and fake. At least be honest and say that the Olivia Munn we see on TV is a character and not the real you.

  23. Seeing the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man explode in 3D would have been cool. (insert dirty joke here gerrad)

    • It’s almost too easy, I don”t want to make it. But if I did the joke would involve crossing streams and the huge white load that was left to cleanup

  24. You forgot to add that George Lucas saw Avatar and now he’s thinking about yet another rerelease of Star Wars in 3D. Dear God why? Munn can you use your all encompassing awesomeness and make him stop?

  25. oh my god that hot tube trailer actually looks pretty entertaining!

  26. I am really disappointed that they decided to reboot the Spiderman Franchise, but I might be interested in seeing the movie if Kraven the Hunter was the villain. In regards to the Hobbit movie, I waited this long to see it, I can hold out to 2012. Also, I do not care that Ghostbusters 3 might be in 3D and Hot Tub Time Machine looks like it could be hilarious.

  27. Oh, I want to like Hot Tub Time Machine. I mean, Cusack, Corddry, Darryl from The Office, AND Clark Duke? But…it doesn’t look too funny. :-|

Thx for the Gilliam interview. He is a genius and I can’t wait to see Parnassus.

Enjoy Sundance. I was out there during a blizzard a few years ago and came down with killer flu. Good times…

  28. “Bustin’ makes me feel good!”

  29. I definitely want to see The Hobbit. Spider-Man is probably going to suck. But I hope not. Have fun at Sundance, Olivia! :)

  30. Hope the hobbit movie turns out great.

I’ll hold out my just ment on the spider-man reboot until i learn more about the cast and story.

    Ghostbusters 3D? Meh.

Saw the trailer for Hot tub time machine last week. Looks like it will have a few laughs.

Have a great weekend Olivia. Hope you have a great time at sundance with you new bff B Dizzle. :)
