Microsoft’s new courier tablet- i’ll take 10.
We were all waiting for Apple to announce a TABLET, we didn’t even see the awesomeness coming from Microsoft. But it’s not a tablet, it’s a BOOKLET.
The dual 7-inch (or so) screens are multitouch, and designed for writing, flicking and drawing with a stylus, in addition to fingers. They’re connected by a hinge that holds a single iPhone-esque home button. Statuses, like wireless signal and battery life, are displayed along the rim of one of the screens. On the back cover is a camera, and it might charge through an inductive pad. They say it’s in the “late prototype” stage.

Imagine a world were books are made not more of wood paste, echological lecture, culture. I magine kids walking to school with no tons of books at their backs. Imagine reading a book with the added effect of passing pages. Oh, it would be nice, wow nice for the future.
Ask Microsoft to do it, a booklet thin, usb for introducing dates and capable of writing and solutions like games for children at schools and so on.

Ryu-san, keep in mind, Apple’s OS 2…developed by IBM and Microsoft…so and features that evolved from those in OS 2 are thanks to IBM and Microsoft…unless you are willing to accept the fact that if microsoft was ripping off apple…i’m sure there would be some lawsuits…PISS OFF!!!
No Lawsuits because Gates tweaked what he stole enough to avoid all the lawsuits~!! Gates had a software company, and Jobs asked Gates to come help with a program for their new OS. Within a couple years Gates releases Apples GUI with enough tweaks to call his own. And has been Bitin’ off of every new OS Apple comes out with ever since. So Again Piss Off Microsoft~!!!!!

It’s true, Microsoft are the people who gave the world Vista, and Windows Me, and Zune, and EDLIN.
But sometimes, they can knock a motherfucker right out of the park. And if that Book-PC is half as cool as it looks on that video, I can’t think of a better computer for students, and a lot of professionals as well.

Looks like a nightmare for lefties. I would think it would be easy to add an option to swap the sides of the journal, but if the camera is stuck on one side, then it’s doubtful.
I don’t think even Microsoft is silly enough to leave out an entire ninth of the populace.
That “home” button looks a lot like Apple’s, along with the name…? Hmm. This looks more like an apple product to me, especially with the multi-touch.
I’m pretty sure about this fact, but I could be wrong. I don’t think apple’s “touch” products of any kind have a multi-touch function. It’s touch, but one finger at a time. MS does have surface technology and multi-touch functioning should be implemented more in with the new OS coming out.
Its just like “the guide” from Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy! I’ll put the “DON”T PANIC” sticker on the back!

I am the young hot shot at my company that takes notes in meetings on my windows mobile phone. Not that I am young or a hot shot at all actually, just lazy and I lost every note I took before resorting to this method.
I cant wait to stop all the evil looks I get from people who think I am texting friends in meetings!

as an early adopter of the origami/umpc platform,I say, “once bitten,twice shy.” I will wait to see what it looks like in 3rd Gen.
This will never actually be made. Microsoft just releases concept prototypes every year to make it seem like they are actually technically competent. Remember the living room table from a couple years ago? How many “Microsoft house of the future” exhibits? That artificial intelligence video game?
They just get the PR boost that associates Microsoft with future technology, and then never release any actual product.
the microsoft tables were in fact made. my friend has one in his kitchen. but was about 10,000$ .. probably why they were not a huge hit
Microsoft had some growing pains will Mr. Gates stepped down, but with the “new xbox expierience,’ zune HD, Windows 7, amongst others, I think they’re finding their stride.
This is going to be everything you’ve ever wanted. Much like the Zune HD, Microsoft will deliver what the consumer has been wanting. They listen better now.

I’d actually buy this over anything apple makes. But then again I take great offense to them being delusional in thinking that they are not PCs as well. (PC=personal computer and they fall under that name too, sorry!) Plus I hate their OSs and pretty much all their policies regarding their products.

Finally I can surf for internet porn while I am on the toilet and not have have that annoying lap top in the way.
That should be one of the bullet points for selling it. I hope it still generates enough heat to keep my thighs warm though. Always a bonus of taking the laptop to the can.
I have a foldable tray table next to the john and I am using it as we speak!
If MS can pull this one off *correctly*, I’ll be impressed. Superb concept, hope to see it coming real. With little chances we’ll see these kind of products enhanced by conceptual videos like this one soon
