Live Action “star wars” series? Yes, please.

star wars

There’s a rumor that I hope is true. SciFiWire is saying that George Lucas is assembling a team of TV writers right now for a live action Star Wars series. OMG! Shut your mouth!!

SciFiWire writes, “The as-yet-untitled series is supposedly set to debut in 2010, though there has been no word of a distributor yet. The series will reportedly be set between the eras of Star Wars: Episode III—Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV—A New Hope and will not feature any major characters from the film series.”

It is rumored to shoot in Australia.

Live action, huh? Well, as long as they have the actors work better on their footwork when they do the swordfight scenes. It can make a big difference when it comes to martial arts.

Personally, I’d like to see a series featuring Boba Fett. We certainly would like to see the best mercenary in the galaxy since Solid Snake kick a lot of ass.

  2. This would be sick!!! Might actually give me a reason to go to a theme park!

  3. I love Star Wars. I love everything about it, and I’m absolutely in love with that world. I’ll take it any way I can get it. That’s what it means to be a fan.

would be hella sick Star Wars for the win muhahaa

  5. Bleh. Clone Wars killed this franchise. End it.

  6. This is fucking retarded!! If they are going to do this, they should just make it take place AFTER Return of the Jedi. If you’re not going to use any of the star actors, and it’s going to be an entirely new story line, putting it in between two other well known movie/stories is just fucking dumb.

  7. I heard about this a while ago on imdb.com. Totally stoked!

cool, people that think this should not be should flip around the channels or check their que and see what else is out there. I dont care if its starwars, star trek, firefly, dr who or whatever we need more nerd stuff to counteract all the dumb shit out there. yes im talking to you true blood and smallville, (oh wait i kinda like smallville, did i just say that outloud)

  9. The only way this would be cool is if the trash compactor monster from the detention level became an ALF like character with a suburban family and taught them all how to love each other, squeeze people to death.

  10. I’m so happy I could pee. Oops. :P

  11. 1- Look its Star Wars, there are contractual nerd obligations to watch this.
2- He is aiming for a cross between the Sopranos and Deadwood (according to the AOTS report I watched)? If even get a quarter of that quality he beats most other network shows.
3- He is HIRING a team of writers. That should help tons!
4- All I am saying is the adventures of a growing Boba Fett has me HOOKED!

  12. ya, info on this has been around since like 2006, its been in production since the end of 2007, or so i hear…

Wookiepedia.com has tons of info on this…

    I think it has a chance…

  13. I think that the best that has come out of Star Wars, by far, is “Star Wars: The Clone Wars”! The storylines are interesting and the acting is so much better. Who knows, maybe they can do something similar to BSG?! So the rest of Star Wars can stop sucking.

  14. George needs to stop this before he mangles this franchise even more to the point that no one will ever enjoy star wars ever again.

  15. I would prefer for it to be set in a different time frame. We know what happens between Episode 3 and 4.

  16. Oooooh! I’m giddy, just thinking about it. Happyface!

  17. kind of old news but w/e

  18. Shenanigans2099 | July 2, 2009 at 11:17 pm

Hopefully this series will remove the stank of how bad the new movies have sucked.

  19. SICK SHIT….THESE ARENT THE DERIODS YOUR LOOKING FOR…[WAVING MY JEDI HAND]

OMG NO!!!!! Don’t ruin such a great franchise by making it into yet another show, The one on Cartoon network is barely up to star wars calibur as it is. This is not star trek let us just enjoy our six movies in peace. I am sure I will still watch it though sorry for being so negative

  21. I’ll believe it when the words come out of George Lucas’ mouth. I’d also like to know why he wants to film it in Australia. Something wrong the U.S., you communist!

  22. Not to sound like a nerd, but I actually heard about this sometime around the time Episode 3 came out.

    I sure hope its true!

  23. ENOUGH OF THE CLONE WAR CRAP!!!!

  24. I am slightly moved by this..

  25. brokenreality | July 2, 2009 at 9:29 pm

I wonder if this is gonna touch on anything form Force Unleashed since that is supposedly cannon although that had some major characters in it.

  26. Steven Bruno | July 2, 2009 at 9:00 pm

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY OLIVIA!!!!

  27. George Lucas should not be involved….he sucks…..

  28. thedreamingvoid | July 2, 2009 at 8:25 pm

I too remember hearing about this like a year ago or so. Good to hear some more updated news on it though. And I hope that it kicks serious ass!

  29. If Jar Jar dies in an episode, then I’m in.

  30. Sweet, I should bust out the nephew’s lightsaber and submit a tape to George Lucas….I’ll anyway to get to Australia and in Star Wars.

  31. Rod Woolard | July 2, 2009 at 8:04 pm

I love the original series. I even like the new trilogy in some ways. The animated series is very good as well. My problem is why is he not going forward with an “Episode VII” type story. I want to see the future of Star Wars, not the past.

  32. Wow!!!!! There is a god

  33. Is it me or is Lucas just throwing anything Star Wars related shit against the wall to see if anything sticks? I love the original Star Wars but damn man, enough is enough with the prequels, the animated series, the video games and OVER MERCHANDISING! It really needs to end someday. I’m not saying it won’t be good but I haven’t seen anything good from the Star Wars brand since 83. It’s been 26 years Lucas, time for an new original idea not some rehashed ish over and over again. Fanboys will always suckle at the tit, but the cow is dry my friend.

  34. I love Star wars but idk about this. I hope its great and adds to the Star Wars experience rather than becoming something too different from the movies.

  35. I’m so auditioning for a wookie role. Will work on my wookie yell on the way to work today.

  36. So, not much Jedi-ness in it then? Because remember, they were all but exterminated at the end of III. And without Jedi, it will suck.

  37. FUCK YEAH ID WATCH IT!
ID EVEN BUY THE DVD SERIES!
its star wars, YOU CANT EPICFAIL ME!!!!

  38. Why live action? I since the Fail may be strong with this one..

  39. AOTS > Star Wars live action series

  40. RedEyedJedi | July 2, 2009 at 6:36 pm

    YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  41. superjohnjohn | July 2, 2009 at 6:28 pm

    what’s a star wars?

  42. ooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  43. maye olivia can get a role in it, woulndt be awesome?
but in imdb the talks about this show had going on for 2 years by now, not much have changed

  44. With George Lucas pretty much destroying the Star Wars saga, I wouldn’t be surprised if this series would be a sitcom starring a romantic triangle of an Ewok, a Jawa and a Wookie.
Or a new take of Police Academy -> “Jedi Academy”
Anything above this would be an improvement for Lucas
    Daaaaamn you Jar Jar!

  45. Oh boy I hope it chronicles the life of Jar Jar Binks!…

  46. acslaterson | July 2, 2009 at 6:22 pm

I would much rather see what happens after VI, you know, Luke setting up the New Jedi Academy? Probably never happen though. :-(

  47. Roronoa Zoro | July 2, 2009 at 6:19 pm

“…and will not feature any major characters from the film series.” What? who are they goin to put there? Jar2?

  48. I heard about the Live action series about 3 years ago.. finally they are gettin thing worked out.. It would be cool to see if Mark Hamill as luke but not holding breathe.. we’ll see..
