Joaquin Phoenix on Letterman
Okay- he has to be joking, right? First, their was his “rapping” at a nightclub in Vegas- and from what I hear, he actually wasn’t punking us, but was really trying to perform and is taking his music career seriously. In this interview, he can’t even answer a question with more than a “yes”… At one point he asks the David what the audience is on! Really? The audience? Maybe by “audience” he meant “Joaquin”.

well, i thought it was just a joke…after seeing that though…he got a roll that doesn’t break i think. 2 mg risperdal every day for 1 month. it’ll wear off then. no longer than that, cause the side effects will kick in. and those around him could send him to “folks hell” plus he won’t need any more. rx from mike, and no, i never even played one on tv. just went through a lotta party fouls. and other shit
First off, the stupid ass video isn’t available where I’m from, which is an insult in of itself, but to add insult to injury,this phenomenon happens more often than not. So the incredulously fucked up person perhaps isn’t Joaquin but the media propaganda which tries to control the mentality of the masses, hoping to make ya’ll find funny what they think is funny and to approve what they approve, if this is what America wants so be it, but as for me and my country; fuck them. Joaquin Phoenix is a Don.
Joaquin likes to take roles as the odd one out, but that works for him as an actor so this interview with Letterman might complement his career

I think he’s ‘in character’ for a new movie… Some actors like to ’stay in character’ even when not filming.
Mike Myers did that when he had the fat bastard suit on for Austin Powers. Even when the cameras were off he still spoke, acted, as was an a-hole just like fat bastard…
I’m looking forward to seeing his new movie……the one where he plays a white homeless rapper hobo man that is out in left field.

Word on the street, as Hoffman07052 already stated is that he’s making a documentary. Or rather a mockumentary, as Casey Affleck’s was filming his first concert and was at his retirement announcement. Sounds like a couple of dudes that’d love to mess with the public like this.

I am 90% convinced it is BS, but kinda wish it wasn’t. Nothing against the guy, he is just more entertaining this way. The Dave was in classic form though and this interview was pretty hilarious.

I’ve stopped watching Letterman since I got tired of how he keeps using the same old annoying jokes for like 2+ months strait. But the way he dealt with Phoenix was classic.

he is either totally messed up, or he’s a far better actor than i thought he was. i really think it’s an act because he actually cracks a smile when letterman says, “sorry you couldn’t be here.”

This is all for a stupid “documentary” that he is making about himself in this crazy character. He’s trying to be Sasha Baron Cohen. Or is it just a bad imitation of what Andy Kaufman used to do with his Vegas lounge character ‘Vic’, or even the ‘Latka’ character (pre-Taxi). but Kaufman did it much better. Joaquin Phoenix is not a comedian. He doesn’t have comic timing. He only comes across as an enigma and enigmas are not funny, just puzzling.
Yeah, that looked awkward and uncomfortable for both of them. I was a little uncomfortable watching it, don’t know whether or not to laugh, or feel bad for his baking brain cells.

Of course he was acting. I mean he used to do Conan and actually make people laugh if I recall. I don’t know what he’s trying to do but he’s obviously trying to pull a huge prank or something. And I agree with fellow posters, that Supermodel needs to just tell Letterman how she met Leonardo. That’s what everyone wants to know, it’s not like anyone gives a shit about her. Letterman doesn’t give a crap anymore and he’s funnier than he’s ever been.
