Jessica Alba, take my advice: Bow Out.
In D.C. for the inauguration last week, FOX News asked Jessica Alba if she wanted to say anything to Bill O’Reilly- she said no and he was an “a-hole”. Well, O’Reilly shot back at her on his show.
Then, she was interviewed by a reporter at the Declare Yourself party in D.C., she tried to turn the question on the journalist asking him what he thought President Obama’s greatest characteristic is.. The reporter said he felt uncomfortable answering and Jessica said, “Be neutral, be Sweden about it.”
After that TMZ and Bill O’Reilly called her out and called her dumb for mixing Sweden up with Switzerland, the current neutral country.
Instead of just letting it go and realizing she accidentally mixed up the countries, she took to her blog to defend her “Sweden” statement citing a Wikipedia entry that proves Sweden was neutral during World War II.
Then TMZ shot back with a pretty clever response saying, “She is absolutely correct. Sweden was a neutral country … 60 years ago. We apologize for not considering the political climate of the world in 1942 when we suggested she may have meant, ‘Be Switzerland’ — a country that is currently neutral.”
My advice for J. Alba? Leave it alone. Bow out. I’ve said some stupid ass shit by accident before and you either A) make fun of yourself or B) leave it alone. Sometimes under the pressure, we make mistakes, mix things up and say things we don’t mean… It doesn’t mean you’re stupid. So when you find yourself in that situation, just laugh or sit down quietly.

And what’s wrong with proving her intellect by showing she’s aware that Sweden was neutral? It’s like when you point out current truths, like the number of the beast being 616 or the new millennium happened in 2001 and they choose to ignore the facts in front of their faces that prove these to be true.
Still, I can’t fully defend her, since she is prudish and that is a pet peeve of mine.
So, she wins the war of wits, but with a reduced grade. Of course, a pet rock could win a war of wits against O’Reilly, Hannity, Limbaugh, or Coulter.
We all frak up, and while I love the fuck that she called O’Rielly and Asshole, i do think it is time she drops it. I genuinely like her, though, and props to your stance on all of this!

Sweden has maintained a policy of neutrality for just as long as Switzerland, was neutral in WW-II (our bombers would try to ditch there, where the planes and pilots would sit out the rest of the war), and has been neutral since then, too. To this day Sweden is not a member of NATO.
Jessica was right, Bill-O was wrong.
Since Switzerland was founded as a nation it has always taking a position of neutrality by law!
Switzerland is so neutral they refuse to join the United Nations.

Reading through the comments above, a lot of people seem to be arguing about who’s wrong or right in the Alba/O’Reilly debate. I think this is missing the point - Alba is an actress, it’s not her job to be an expert in politics or history. Getting into a public argument with the “infotainment” media isn’t going to prove anything to anyone, it’s just going to make all of you look petty and immature.
Olivia, the way you own up to your mistakes - and even take pride in them - is one of your best qualities. Being able to laugh at yourself not only makes you funny, it makes you a better person.
Now if only you can learn to pronounce “dachshund” in one take….
