Great Munn Ancestors?
Lovely Chris Hardwick was walking through a cemetery in Canada (?) for some odd reason and came upon a gravestone with MUNN on it! Looks like the Munn blod line goes back to 1761! What. Up.

Looks like we need “Engrish” lessons.
Can you imagine what it would’ve been like crossing the Atlantic aboard the Mayflower with a bunch of Munn’s??
Phuck U, Christopher! I put my foot on this soil before you!!
No surprise. A large percent of hot asian chicks come from Canada.
What a common thing to be doing, trolling around a grave yards.
Pretty cool though, in a morbid kinda way.
The surname of MUNN was derived from the Old French ‘Mun’ a name given to a monk or a man of the cloth. The name was probably brought to England in the wake of the Norman Conquest of 1066. Early records of the name mention William de Moion, listed as a tenant in the Domesday Book of 1086. Reginald de Moyn was documented in County Somerset in the year 1239. Thomas le Mun, 1275, County Norfolk. William de Mohun of Yorkshire, was listed in the Yorkshire Poll Tax of 1379. Thomas Haynes and Dorothy Moone were married at St. James’s, Clerkenwell, London in the year 1762. William Moon and Mary Stuart were married at St.George’s, London in the year 1762. The name was taken early to Scotland by settlers, and John de Mohun is recorded in Carlaverock in the year 1300, and appears to be the first of the name on record. George Moon is recorded in the year 1711 in Kilspindie. At first the coat of arms was a practical matter which served a function on the battlefield and in tournaments. With his helmet covering his face, and armour encasing the knight from head to foot, the only means of identification for his followers, was the insignia painted on his shield, and embroidered on his surcoat, the flowing and draped garment worn over the armour. The associated arms are recorded in Sir Bernard Burkes General Armory. Ulster King of Arms in 1884. It has long been a matter of doubt when the bearing of coats of arms first became hereditary and it was not until the Crusades that Heraldry came into general use. Men went into battle heavily armed and were difficult to recognise. It became the custom for them to adorn their helmets with distinctive crests, and to paint their shields with animals and the like. Coats of arms accompanied the development of surnames, becoming hereditary in the same way. Most of the European surnames were formed in the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries. The process had started somewhat earlier and had continued in some places into the 19th century, but the norm is that in the tenth and eleventh centuries people did not have surnames, whereas by the fifteenth century most of the population had acquired a second name.
Munn Heraldic family Crest Motto is “Omnia Vincit Veritas” or translated from Latin to English “truth conquers all things”
Neat.
In Canada? Kind of a big place, don’t suppose he could narrow it down a tad?
Anyway, your ancestor lived to be 79? Way back then, that was positively venerable! You’ve got good longevity in your genes, Miss Olivia.
Heh, I said “in your genes”. Huh huh huh.
you has Munncestors!
Bravo, Munn! That is awesome. My ancestry can be traced directly back to 1735 (it sometimes amazes me that I am only number nine in this generational-genetic line). Then the records are lost for hundreds of years, but pick back up, fragmentary, in the 1300’s A.D.(C.E.), and to, of all things, Welsh royalty. Must have had some well-traveled, cosmopolitan ancestors back in the day, kickin’ it ancient school. I already know I have Roman blood in me, but I also like to entertain the possibility that I may be a direct descendant of King Arthur. Perhaps some future descendant of mine may change the world forever for the better, maybe even an entire galaxy. I have high and noble aspirations.
Chris Hardwick is the man, and finds everything!! haha
i think munn killed the real jesse james
That’s way cool. I’m native American and because of that a large majority of my families history was destroyed.
Damn Munn, u go way back, even further than Hardwick in canada?!
How often does Hardwick hang around cemeteries? You may consider letting everybody knows where you are at all times when you hang out with him. Just saying.
it’s a sad day. I cried 3 or 4 times during Michael Jackson’s memorial service. Especially at the end when his daughter said her goodbye. It broke my heart.
A quick search turns up a Munn family crest. If I could post a link I would. Motto: “Truth conquers all things”. The name comes from the place of residence - Moion, near Normandy - of a family that came across to England in the Norman conquest of 1066. The settled in Kent, where they were the Lords of the Manor of Maidstone. So you probably have Lords, Earls, Barons, etc. in your ancestry. There was apparently a Munnes who arrived in VA in 1619, and some Munns in the Carribean shortly thereafter. There are probably many Munns out there (or Munson, or some variation).
Munn
Scottish: Anglicized form of Gaelic Mac Gille Mhunna.
English: nickname from Anglo-Norman French noun ‘monk’.
American: Crazy ninja girl with ability to make most of wonder bra.
Just proves that the Canadian universial health care don’t work ehh!

holy shit! 1761! so lemme get this right Doc Munn immagrated to Usa in like the 1600’s, then he migrated north to kill more Native Americans. THEN some Chinese female ninja’d her way to Canada, boinked each other, and just hung around for some time, boating back to China to see her family and whatnot. very fascinating! you should be documented on “BIOGRAPHY: Olivia’s Tree”

I can assure you that Canada is totally sweet. It’s like America, except there’s lots of clean air and not as many guns. Also, hockey.
It’s possible he could be an ancestor of yours. Have you ever trace your family tree on your father’s side?
That’s good times, but seriously though, why the shit was Hardwick walking through a cemetery in Canada?
I wouldn’t go around bragging that I had Canadian in my blood line!!!
