The pull out method is very risky. Sure it may feel more natural, but it just takes one time being to slow.....

Woah, serious topic for a very un-serious forum.
I'll just say I'm not sure anything we've "accomplished" over there is worth a single life that's been lost. Will there ever be a magical day when all the Iraqi's love us, and everything is 100% how we want it to be? SInce the answer is no I'm not sure what we're still doing there, but I know there are valid reasons and the decision to just leave is not that simple.
Also, if you'd asked this 6 years ago I probably would have said bomb the hell out of them, so I'm glad the closest I'll ever get to this type of decision is in a video game.
@USMCSemperFi based on your screen name and question, have you served over there then? If so, what's your own opinion?
I am obsolete. This must be what old people feel like. And Blockbuster.

a serious question indeed.

I'll answer that very important topic with a very Bush-like answer....."We can't cut and run...we must stay the course, until victory is achieved."

Total US armed forces violent death toll due to the Iraq War: 4345
Total Iraqi violent death toll due to the Iraq War: 1,033,000
Iraqui refugees loosing home due to Iraq War: 4,200,000 (16% of poulation)
Weapons of mass destruction found: 0
Do the math.About pulling out: That would mean leaving a country with completely destroyed infrastructure and political instability to itself...My forecast: anarchy followed by some new warlord dictator.

Pulling out isn't the answer. As Olivia says you always squirt before you shoot so wrap it up.
Wait what are we talking about? Why are you reading this? I have nothing to say to you.Posted 4 months ago # -
Yes i am a so called "Fucking Jarhead" and after being in Iraq i can say that it truly is a pointless war. We Troops are over there fighting for what exactly? i love my country and i joined the service to help my country, but this is fucking pointless, so many innocent ppl get killed in the line of fire that it is crazy. If we stay things may change for like a damn month, but then its all gonna be the same over there again, thats the way its been for a long ass time and thats the way its gonna stay.

If you pull out or stay in, either way someone gets fucked.

Bless you for serving.
That aside, I refer to this as an invasion rather than a war.
If US stuck to Afghanistan & the related area , maybe after that business was done, maybe look into Iraq. To be honest, as much of a bastard Saddam was, I think he was pretty good in power over over there. It was pretty stable. Plus the crimes he committed was with US support earlier on, and after he gassed 1000's the US still supported/supplied him.

Pulling out isn't 100% effective but it usually prevents mistakes
Energizer Munny she keeps going... and going... and going...Posted 4 months ago # -
@edub the U.S. supported Saddam so he would attack Iran, just to have everything backfire on us. Same thing in Afghanistan. We support the Afghan rebels during the Russian invasion in the late 70s and then that country becomes a hotbed of terrorist activity aimed squarely at the U.S.
Our country needs to stop trying to police the world and focus on issues here. Our economy is the dumps, the govt. is bailing out banks and creditors with our tax dollars left and right and on top of that we have to support a bunch of other countries shitty situations. Enough is enough. Time to let other countries deal with their own shit and time for the U.S. govt to deal with problems here
They took the bar, the whole fucking bar!!!!!
hit me up on twitter. http://twitter.com/bartz824Posted 4 months ago # -
See now you make me all feel a little guilty by being the only asshole to make a joke.
Now what's all this talk about a war? *shrugs*
Posted 4 months ago # -
Sorry Gerrad. I'm not really sure the Munn forum will affect the war in Iraq no matter what our opinion is, or how sweet her ass is.
For hecks sake, we can't even decide how hot Megan Fox is, and the bacon vs. sausage war still rages on.

The U.S. really had no choice to go in or not. It would go like this:
U.S. goes in-current situation
U.S. didn't go in-(rest of world yelling at us)-WTF US? You guys are the super power, it is your job to quell any foreign conflicts.
Even if people say " The is international, it should be the UN, aka the US, we still foot 1/3 off the total UN funding and send in most supplies/troops.
With that said, we can't really leave Iraq until the job is done.
"It was a typo, I went with it"

Never in the history of mankind has there been a good reason to start a war.
Hey devil dog (@USMC) what's your mos?

Never in the history of mankind has there been a good reason to start a war.
Minja, I think someone hacked your account, otherwise I missjudged you
You sure? Even I think there are few situations military intervention could be necessary...genocide is one of them.
Posted 4 months ago # -
I get what you guys are saying but let's re-examine what war is. Genocide IS war and there is no good reason for genocide. It is the fundamental flaw of the human condition. We can only resolve violence with more violence.
So I say again there is NO good reason to start a war.Posted 4 months ago # -
This thread has found me stuck between Iraq and a hard place.
I feel bad just making that joke.....
Posted 4 months ago # -
@Minja: You are a former marine, aren't you? You are probably the only parcifistic marine.
I assume you knew you would be involved in wars when you enlisted, therefore you must have changed your mind during/after service.I agree that there is no good reason to start a war. But let's say some genocidal war already rages...the question is if other countries should get involved to prevent it or not. I would say so. I'm all for peaceful solutions but in some situations there simply is none.

I think they should have used Ninjas over there.
twitter.com/ninjutsucoder I'm not interesting or friendly.Posted 4 months ago # -
@S0nntagskind First off once a Marine always a Marine
Secondly I'm far from a pacifist.
As for the question when a foreign country should intervene in another countries affairs that's a tough question that has no universal answer and needs to be examined on a case by case basis as the situation dictates.Posted 4 months ago # -

I think that as a Marine you should know that all of your 'opinions' on the war, justified or not, should not be be made open to the public. Marines pride themselves on Tradition and Structure, as an Airman, I don't take kindly to you undermining the integrity of the orders we've been given. Justified or not.

Real Talk: One of many things I hate about the Iraq War is how the media (especially Fox News) tries to distort anyone who openly opposes that war, as being against the american troops fighting there. That infuriates me, because I hate that American soliders are losing their lives over a unjust war, just as it infuriates me that tens of thousands of Iraqi civilian lives has been lost, in that sense-less war. That's my opinion on this subject.
