    feed by M.T. Anderson

"This brilliantly ironic satire is set in a future world where television and computers are connected directly into people's brains when they are babies. The result is a chillingly recognizable consumer society where empty-headed kids are driven by fashion and shopping and the avid pursuit of silly entertainment--even on trips to Mars and the moon--and by constant customized murmurs in their brains of encouragement to buy, buy, buy."

Books you'll need to read and/or have on hand BEFORE the robot/zombie/Palin apocalypse happens:

Lyman Reloading Handbook (whatever the most recent edition happens to be when you are looking for it, pick it up).

Ballistics: Theory and Design of Guns and Ammunition by by Donald E. Carlucci andDonald E. Carlucci

A Rifleman Went to War by Herbert W. McBride

Tactical Pistol: Advanced Gunfighting Concepts And Techniques by by Gabriel Suarez

I just read a book called Asterios Polyp by David Mazzuchelli, it's technically a comic but its unlike anything else I have read in years. It deals with some dense issues of self change and world views, plus its like a couple hundred pages, literally one of the best books I have read the past few years, comic or not,

I strongly recommend any works by Alex Garland (writer of the screenplay for "Sunshine", "28 Days Later"). He also wrote 'The Beach', which is a fantastic book.

Super Casino by Pete Earley, tells a pretty good story of how modern super casino Las Vegas came to be and the things that occur behind the scenes.

I don't read much, unless I'm doing it for a class. I really need to read more. However, pretty much anytime Chuck Palahniuk or Mitch Albom has a new book out, I get that book ASAP and read it pretty much immediately. They never disappoint.

I have opinions of my own -- strong opinions -- but I don't always agree with them.

I was thinking to myself "I hope someone gives props to William Gibson" Then I remembered there's a cat named Burning Chrome. So...

Anyways there's a manga called BLAME! and it's the most hardcore cyberpunk i've ever read. It's strange and amazing.

American God's by Neil Gaiman is to date the only book that's ever made me cry.

Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson is still my favorite book of all time (and also made me become a pizza delivery boy. Not a joke, but if you read it, this might make you smile). Neal Stephenson is one of the only authors who could get away with naming the main character Hiro Protagonist.

And of course PH, PH2, DMG, and MM.

Well, be sure you have a box of tissues standing by when you read "Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret"... for both reasons.

I am obsolete. This must be what old people feel like. And Blockbuster.

I just bought Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. I think I am going to start reading that next.

I'm just finishing a book about Jane Goodall. I do not recommend it, it was super boring.

@TracyL. I read that one and loved it! I could never get around to reading the other ones and now, I feel that if I try to go back and get into it, it won't be as good as I remember it in my head. But I love that one book, and thus, love the series. I live out my fantasies by just watching Legend of the Seeker, though.

    Ohh, good for you.
    And how was it?

@sweetpotatoes I'm really disappointed to hear that, you'd think a book about a woman crazy enough to go live with some friggin apes would have some pretty epic/hilarious stuff in it. Nick Swardson's Jane Goodall joke comes to mind...
