Are those two words really that hard to say? Rule of thumb: If you don't say "excuse me" don't expect me to get out of your way.

too many people feel a sense of entitlement, that they have a right to be where you are and don't feel the need to apologize for or excuse their behavior...'tis a sad state of affairs...

On the flip side, saying "excuse me" isn't a magic wand of forgiveness either. You can be as polite as you like, but if I have to stand up for a 12th time at a baseball/basketball/football game just so you can squeeze by, it still doesn't mean I won't want to cut you.

I am obsolete. This must be what old people feel like. And Blockbuster.

@brisco yeah, but if they never say excuse me, how much sooner would you stick 'em?

In Canada that is pretty much a given for everyone.
Except there are these people who are too shy to say it and they say is really quietly. It takes you like 20 times to hear them.

Saying "You're excused." without moving to accommodate them is the most gratifying social experience you can exact.

I agree...that's why I prefer Europe where it's pretty much a given that if you're slow, get the fuck to the right!
