Seemed like the best choice for a scary Halloween movie (well, it or the Michael Jackson movie) so I finally got around to watching this. To add to what's already been said, they did an excellent job with the sound effects on this one. Almost every scare is generated just by sound, and I think they made the right choice to have no music at all in the film.
I'm of two minds about the alternate endings. The theatrical version definitely has the HOLY CRAP moment that you live for in these type of films, but the original DVD ending is probably much more fitting. I wonder if they had to re-think their original ending just in case they wanted a sequel (which has now been announced)?
I am obsolete. This must be what old people feel like. And Blockbuster.
