I wonder what kind of hard hitting articles will be in it. I'm guessing Giant Pie Diving Safety Tips. Perhaps an undercover expose on the unfair ticketing practices of parking meter attendants. Not to mention her scathing review of balloons called "Balloons are bitches". What do you hope to see?

Nice topic herb. I've been thinking about this myself, but I hate making new topics.
I'm putting on the serious hat for just a minute.
First of all, this has got to be a scary time to be launching a new magazine. I wonder if Olivia's having to put a lot of her own money into this?! I mean, I am actually scared for her here. Magazines like Stuff and FHM couldn't last, and I assumed they'd be the same type of market/demographic she's going after.
I really wish you could invest in celebrities like you could the stock market, and I'd morgage my darned house to invest in Munn because I'm that sure her career is going to skyrocket, but man I just don't know if I'd invest in a magazine right now.
Do we think it will be published monthly, quarterly? And even though its a given we'd be pleased to have nothing but Olivia photos on every page, will that work well enough on a broader audience, or is it going to feature other celebs (and then doesn't it become Maxim?)?
Content-wise I imagine the articles will be the same sort of stuff she posts on her front page. Probably tech gadgets, cute/funny stuff, and random weirdness from around the globe. I think it would be cool if Pereira was willing to write a column as well. Some of his blog posts were incredibly well written. And I think we guessed earlier when she asked for those "Ask Olivia" questions that they will probably end up in the magazine as well.
@FuRyUs I could see something like that happening. I'm sure she's got writer's for it, but maybe she'll throw out some sort of topic or something, and ask for people to submit their stories, with the winners getting into the magazine. The next evolutionary step to Photoshop Fridays?
I am just shaking my head at how she has time to do all this.
I've done practically nothing all week and I haven't even got time to catch up on the stuff I've Tivo'ed. So yeah, based on all her hard work, I bet this magazine will be a success as well. Do you need any investors?
I am obsolete. This must be what old people feel like. And Blockbuster.

Stealing briscojr's serious hat, I am curious myself if this is a one shot deal or something Olivia has more substantial plans for. Whatever the case count me in as a subscriber.

I though it would be published by the same group who does Complex magazine and runs this website. Seems too expensive for a individual person to create and finance.
It might be a oneshot at first to test the waters and see if it sells well.

dang it, that hat was brand new because I barely ever wear it.
I would really think she's planning for it to be a "regular" magazine. Maybe only every 2 or 3 months or something, but if she's got to assemble a crew/staff/writers and put all the work into launching it, I'm sure it won't just be a one-shot.
Now *maybe* there's a way they can hedge their bets a bit. Like see how well the first issue or two do before they commit to a larger print run or something? Publishing always has astounded me. I look at the hundreds and hundreds of magazines that are on the shelf at Barnes & Nobles and I wonder who in the heck is reading all these. Then I get out of the 'adult' section and I wonder that about the regular magazines as well.
Hmm... if 'Hey Olivia' does do subscriptions, they often give like a bonus to subscribers. Any ideas folks? Maybe we can finally get that official t-shirt we've been asking for?
*edit* @ricknw Your comment appeared as I was typing mine. I guess that's entirely possible, but seems like they'd be creating competition with themselves in that case? Would offset a ton of the costs though I suppose since they're already in the biz.

@briscojr Maybe she'll give out an Olivia Munn football phone like Sports Illustrated used too.

I thought that was you the other day in the Adult section briscojr!

Okay I put on my serious pants. I don't trust where that hat's been.
I think a good guess would be a test issue of the magazine, see what kind of numbers it runs. From there a slow build towards a quarterly or even every other month status would foster better economic growth.
I'd also guess that Complex would be helping to start the source financing. I think looking at how Munn has moved issue demand on pre-existing mags, such as Complex itself, The Hundreds, and her block buster Playboy cover (which prolly started the ball on this) it makes sense to try to capture a market. I've also read that magazines are staring to make somewhat of a comeback in some forms, but honestly we are all buying it right?
As for actual content I'd like to see outside the normal photo stuff. I'd love a fan section, maybe a spotlight on different fan activities or something tying in the website to the magazine. I'd also like to get Olivia dishing on films and TV that she is into, a nice pop culture slice of life for whatever is taking up her (albeit limited) free time. I think you could also go a long way with Olivia interviewing other celebs.
I think the key to making this work is to put it in the hands of the fans. Embracing the people who make it work and let there be some fan feedback in the issue. Let the magazine evolve and change.

I got a serious jacket somewhere but I can't find it so I'll have to try by critical shirt so don't blame me it's the shirt.
If this is more than a one shot deal I think this is a pretty bad idea. I can't think of where she's gonna get the content to make it interesting enough for everyone. The OMFG would buy it regardless but comparatively speaking we're a pretty amall demographic. Not to mention the fact that print magazines are pretty much a dieing medium and that if it does take off she'll probably drop dead from exhaustion. Why are you reading this? I have nothing to say to you.Posted 5 months ago # -
I have a sneaking suspicion that many of those questions we sent in via the website and twitter a few days ago will end up being answered in a section of the article.

Anyone else notice that if you click on the photo that Olivia just posted from her photoshoot, you can see a whole bunch of the other photos on the far right hand side? I wonder if she's going to use one of those for the cover?

Good catch Shabazz. I like the pink bikini picture.

Olivia you should name your mag with some variation of the letter O, just enough so that you don't get sued. That way you can trick people into thinking its Oprah's mag...lol

Olivia starting her own magazine is a great idea. It will be great for her to have the ability to control her image and content placed (after her horrible time during her playboy shoot I think this is the right move) Its pretty safe to say that since she in NY for the photoshoot that Complex will be taking on the financial aspect of the magazine. As for content I believe it will be a lot like the site. Sexy pictures of Munn crazy plateful style interviews with celebrates. Commentary on her personal life, Tech news, gaming and of course fatties & pies. I agree that the twitter question are going to be apart of the magazine & knowing Olivia she going to have a lot more fan interaction then probably anyone else out there (that might be something that helps get it over the FHM & Maxim hump) it will probably be a one shot to test the waters and sold only in a few major markets and on her site with the goal to go quarterly. Whatever the case I'm very excited for her about this latest project and can't wait to see how it turns out. It would be cool if G4 brought back Olivia's rack for a one time stint when her magazine is released.

Maybe a comic strip or two the way Nintendo power had back in the day. Olivia running through various video game settings and hurling sarcastic comments left and right.

Meh, just another Marc Ecko marketing tool

The magazine thing is a cool idea but I don't see it taking off like she or some fans would want. I've been subscribed to several mags over the years, two of which have gone under. the parent companies in charge of the mags went bankrupt and that was te end of the mags. Currently I am subcribed to 4 mags and I really don't read them that much, unless there is something interesting on the front. So as far as Olivia's mag goes, I'm positive it's gonna be a struggle getting it off the ground. I think it's a mistake on her part, but live and learn I guess.
They took the bar, the whole fucking bar!!!!!

I think that its going to be a magazine maybe done by complex for different celebrities. Maybe an issue is about Olivia, then the next issue is about another celebrity. I dont know, just an opinion.
Its cause i found this on a blog:MYMAG. What is it… apart from amazing? You could ask Snoop, Pharrell, Russell Simmons, Olivia Munn, Steve Aoki, Brett Ratner and many other celebrities… because they all know what it is. But to REALLY find out, lets talk to… Warren Naronha.
Im guessing thats it because the pic is called MyMag.

huh. Well that's interesting. And it probably even makes more sense. But she wrote that it's going to be called "Hey Olivia". I think it would be hard to market a magazine if it has a different name every issue.
Classic Olivia, give us a breadcrumb and make us follow the clues.

That's how it must be because i doubt Olivia can have her own monthly magazine.

I subscribe to Sports Illustrated and Rolling Stone. I always hit up the magazine rack when I'm in Barnes 'n Noble, and I'm always having to dodge other people walking up and down the rack. There is still a healthy chunk of Americans who will buy magazines. Don't be so quick to pull out the glass half empty outlook.
