Last night was crazy. "If I take him, he will lose his innocence" Weirddddd.
Posted 11 months ago # -
I know! That makes me wonder what or who "the others" really are and what they can do.
Posted 11 months ago # -
That whole time discussion confused me.. and yeah, the losing innocence thing was creepy.. but I liked the whole Kate-centricity.. sad at the end
Posted 11 months ago # -
Yeah they used the whole Kate thing to answer questions about Aaron and Sawyers secret. I think they are trying to answer those questions the audience can start wondering about "the others" and the smoke monster to start a new era in the series.
Posted 11 months ago # -
Maybe they had to sacrifice his innocence to heal him. Sacrifice it to the island? To the smoke monster? Just throwing ideas out. lol

That whole Richard walking into that templethingyplace was freaky. His look was menacing. This episode was obviously a try to answer questions thing, though it was pretty blatant putting the whole Hurley is just as confused as we are so let's have him ask questions. Though nothing got answered.
So what are your guys' thoughts on Ben not dying? Someone should have killed him just for fun.
Yeah, I was thinking when Richard walked into that place, I thought it was the smoke monster lair. Perhaps?Oh, question. Who are the others? They're not the same others as before right? I was confused when Juliet said that.

That does kinda make sense since one episode when they were in the past there was a large egyptian looking statue and they did used to do sacrifices and stuff. Also in the episode when Jin washes up with the french lady and the smoke monster took their friend the guy was changed and he tried to kill the french lady so maybe the smoke monster makes them into "the others" and steals their innocence.

I think that he could not die. When he woke up next to Locke, he will just have the memory of being shot by Sayid. The same way Desmond woke up because he had the NEW memory of Daniel Faraday telling him to go find his mother.
Posted 11 months ago # -
So if all this has happened before, and will happen again, then apparently this is the event that ultimately made Ben capable of killing everybody in the Dharma Initiative. If Sayid hadn't shot him, and Jack hadn't refused to help him, then Kate would have never given him to Richard for him to be "changed"...

@Btab I guess that has something to do with Charles Whitmore. One of the others says "what if Charles finds out?" I guess when Ben becomes an "other" he replaces Charles and makes him leave the Island which explains Charles' intent in getting back and getting his revenge but apparently there are rules that they have to follow and Ben broke them by returning. The rules explains why Charles didn't just return to the island himself. Anyway "the others" must be different under Ben's leadership rather than Charles'.

I've got a thing for Juliet, I can tell you that much.

@Celo820 - Richard said Ben would have no memory of the event after whatever was needed to be done to save him happened.
As for the memories - what if they were already there, but the mind couldn't handle them because they were out of temporal sync? Or is that too much Star Trek for Lost?Posted 11 months ago # -
Juliet is my favorite character. Yum.
Thanks for the explanation. Can't wait for judgement day next week!
Locke's face at the end was creepy.Posted 11 months ago # -
I think that is what they were trying to explain last night. Ultimately what is suppose to happen WILL happen. Ben is suppose to become an evil mofo and be "changed". It happen in a much different way now since they interfered but in the end result he still loses his innocence and become apart of the others.
Posted 11 months ago # -
@Celo820 Richard says "He won't remember this". Desmond only remembered because he never lived on the island in the past and he was never an "other".
Posted 11 months ago # -
I dont think he will remember because he will never know what Sawyer and Kate did for him OR he will remember but wont care, lol because he has no innocence.
Posted 11 months ago # -
I see all of your points.....back to the drawing board. lol
Posted 11 months ago # -
Richard and the others seem to have innocence or aren't as cold hearted especially in the future. Maybe "the others" are only using Ben as some sort of balance on the island with no intent of him actually being the leader and maybe they follow him out of fear.
Posted 11 months ago # -
Since Locke told Richard to Meet him after he is born, Richard uses Locke as an opportunity to replace Ben and restore the balence but in fact neither Ben or Locke were ever actually the "chosen" one or the "leader" but only people who are suppose to create balence sort of like Locke being the good and Ben being the evil and once this happens the real "chosen one will be able to take over if there is one.... lol just a theory

Nice theory!
Posted 11 months ago # -
I watch Lost so much that I've noticed that its easier to figure out what happens next but this theory is a bit beyond whats happening now.

yeah im of the opinion that this is simply the actual series of events that led to ben being who he is.
what intrigues me most now is the statue and the smoke monster. my best guesses are the statue, pretty obviously some egyptian fertility god, has juliet's face etched into it as she has been shown to have the special touch of delivering babies on the island. that also means at some point they will have to get back into shifting times.
the smoke monster imo is much more of a mystery. my best guess is its jacob, who or whatever jacob really is. but then perhaps not.
im also interested to find out what happened to faraday, and of course the real deal with richard alpern who's special relation to the island i think might be that he doesnt age; is outside of time in a sense...

Lost is always good. Locke is my favorite character. It's going to be interesting to see where he turns up when everything is said and done.

I missed a lot of the earlier seasons, so it kinda sucks not knowing anything...but at the same time, fun to be WTF?! It's my wtf show.
So does anyone know Christian's role?
Oh I forgot to mention that it was enlightening to find out that Kate is going back to the island to find Claire. How sweet.Posted 11 months ago # -
Christian is jack and claire's dad who was killed by sawyer in australia. jack was bringing his body to the u.s when the plane crashed and he keeps popping up. Apparantly he's an important role to the island and he knows alot of secrets. I think he either used to be an "other" or he's jacob or the smoke monster is using his body to communicate with people.
Posted 11 months ago # -
Yeah, I always thought he was Jacob..
Posted 11 months ago # -
Yeah in one ep Locke went to jacobs cabin and Christian and Claire was in there.Maybe Jacob and the smoke monster are the same thing in different forms.
Posted 11 months ago # -
