Ooh, we have another wordsmith on the forums.
I have both an XBox 360 and a PS3, and the only game I ever play on the 360 is Rock Band. I like 360 fine, but I personally like the PS3 better. I use my PS3 to watch Blu-Ray movies and play games, so I get more use out of it, and I've never had to send it in because of hardware problems, unlike the 360. But I have to say the main selling point for me (something I don't think has been considered yet) is the PS3's ability to play Japanese Games. Because the PS3 uses Blu-Ray and America and Japan have the same Region Coding for Blu-Ray, you don't have to hack your system or void any warranties, unlike both the 360 and Wii which would have to be hacked. Moreover, if I remember correctly, Sony is planning on releasing a thinner version of the PS3 later this year for less money (This part I'm not confident on, but I do remember hearing it somewhere...xP).
@Todosho I'll find that article that is unbiased so you can see how wrong you are. You have to think outside the(x)box. Just for one example think about this how much to you pay to play xbox online over the period of a year? $50 now subtract that from the price of a bluetooth headset. I think 50 is greater than 25 (for a bluetooth headset) but maybe my math is off
@Sub Excellent points man.
@ Sub
Just curious, what games do they have in Japan that aren't in the US. I have a few imports myself [Couple of Super Robot Tiasen titles, Transformer Tataki for PS 2 and Jump Superstars for DS, to name most of them] and was wondering if they have interesting titles over there.
@Jhylla Well when I was over there in June I picked up the 3rd Yakuza game, which I believe still doesn't have a release date for America. They also had some games that I hadn't heard of before (mostly strategy, fighting, or dating sim type games from what I could tell). But they also had the demo for FF13 which was one of the things I was looking for, and I'm hoping/planning on getting the FF13 games in December since that is when they're expected to release in Japan. For more titles that are currently released in Japan check yesasia.com. That's the site I use to see what new games are out in Japan.
@trojan
you ever play online? about 80-95% of the people i faced, didnt have a headset
kinda disproves your theory that "everyone" owns a blutooth.
but then again. almost all PS3 exclusive require no talking anyways, cause they're single player formats.
where you get your blutooth at for $25. the one i want is $60.

i dont feel like looking like a douche with that stupid ear piece on all day. like in Saw V with the FBI agent who had it on all throughout the movie, only to answer it Once........
I bought a refurbed one to save money, and it worked for 6 months before getting a disc read error, which i ended up fixing by cleaning the laser and voiding my warranty. It happened again recently but I haven't been able to fix it, so I'm saving up for the 150 it'll take for me to send it to Sony to have it fixed.
I MISS IT SO MUCH T_T
@ninjasquirrel STFU i will GUT U and all them punk ass Microsoft BITCHES!!! PS3 runs things just like YA BOI THE BOSS!!
$HIT IS REAL!
the boss....do you want us to fix your head and get you to say coherent sentences?
People here aren't afraid to bash idiots, don't tempt us
The Playstation 3 is a great console (I own the 60gb model), my only gripe with Sony is that they don't hardly market their games enough.
@loakum
because there is NO games for it!
haha
no one wants to download a demo, cause you have to pay for it!
silly PS3 owners. thinking free online is cool, but they like paying for every community game.
A Xbox live gold account is cheap if you get the 1 year for $50 bucks package. Hell, if all you care about is DLC you don't even NEED a gold account. The default silver one is free anyways! Add to that free demos and I consider live a better deal.
@jhylla
don't forget about the link with your netflix account.
and by next year, lets hope the rumor is true. that netflix will stream All of its library!
ah, how i miss my LIVE account.
oh. buy your card at Walmart or Newegg.com, its $40
@todosho LOL, I hardly would call a console that has Metal Gear Solid 4, Uncharted Drake's Adventure, Infamous, God of War III, Heavy Rain, and Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm None games. However, they could use some improvement for their online service. I've been saying that they should issue a charge, for a higher quality service.
@todosho I choose quality over quantity
@loakum
MGS- 1 player (online 32?)
Drake- 1 player (online i have no clue, crappy compared to Gears of War)
God of War - 1 player
Infamous - 1 player
Heavy Rain - 1 player
Naruto - 2 player.
oooolala Single Players galore~!!!
idk about you. but i'm not into playing by myself.
and when you do get a game for online gaming....see how many people you get in your team with a mic, i guarantee you it's going to be less than 5%
PS3!! FTW!
even though i dont own one
my brother left his at my house for awhile
You rock Peaches!!!
You rock too Minja!!
@todosho - So what they're single player games. I'd rather console exclusive games that are great games first and foremost, that I enjoy playing again than exclusives (pointing at almost all 360 ones here) that are shite and only hold up because they have multiplayer, and even then that isn't as great. Perfect example is Halo franchise, after number 1, everything went down hill, if it didn't have multiplayer to keep it aboard they would've been complete fails.
Personally, I think that the 360 is a better console entertainment wise, but the PS3 has untapped powers....I wonder why put all that Horsepower in that machine and not use it.....
@gomes
yea, Halo 1 was the best thing ever. i'd still play that over the other 2.
i'm guessing you never tried Left 4 Dead or playing CoD4 with a team with mics.
it's one of the greatest experiences ever. to be able to work with someone else who responds to a command.
nothing wrong with single player. but really? $60 to play by yourself? if i spend that much to play by myself, i'd buy the Olivia playboys over 1 game.
My problem with the console war is that the XBOX 360 has an advantage since Sony is deligent with their 10 year legacy plan.
Microsoft is a smart company and they will surely take advantage of this and update their console before the next version of the PS comes out.
Right now the two companies are battling it out with Project Natal and that "new" Playstation Eye controller. Both of which are to snuff out the Wii's unique edge in the whole drama.
The end line is that Sony has to get a price drop for the PS3 just before Microsoft releases their next console in a few years. Microsoft surely isn't going to ruin their current franchise now by releasing a console too early. No, they are going to milk the XBOX 360 for all it is worth, wait for new, more powerful technology to come out and then do the deal.
This will most likely happen before the end of the 10 year legacy plan Sony has out.
This is one hell of a war going on and both consoles are fighting it out to the death.
In the Uncharted 2 Review on X-Play just now, Sessler just called it the greatest single-player campaign he had ever played. Nice.
Uncharted 2 is the sole reason I'd add a PS3 to my current console set. Unfortunately economics is gonna kick me in the ass with the huge fall game roll out and I'll prolly have to wait a few months before picking up the system.
I mean look at the rollout of quality games over the next 5 months or so...Mass Effect 2, Assassin's Creed 2, Left for Dead 2, Dragon Age : Origins, Brutal Legend
Plus recent releases like Ultimate Alliance 2 and Halo ODST.. gonna break me just to play these games..
@brisco
FUCK YES! Greatest SINGLE player Ever!
/sarcasm.
i want to see how MAG is gonna be though. PS3 focuses too much on single player....sure they're pretty as hell. fluid in motion. but damn. if i liked playing by myself, i wouldn't have upgraded since Atari.
I've enjoyed MAG quite a lot, but personally I prefer single player games. So playing the best single player game of all time is kind of a big deal.
My NES and my Super NES both still work.
Why is it that XBox 360's fail like 40% of the time?
I bought my ps3 because of the single player games. I personally think multi player is way overrated. All that game play is basically the same. Capture the flag this death match that and now everyone is going to just make copies of horde mode. I hate it when games have a 4 hour story mode that's meh and go all out on the multi player. I'm old school and grew up playing games llike metal gear solid Devil may cry and now uncharted. I don't need to play with 30 people online to enjoy a game. I'm really hoping Uncharted 2 starts getting developers to make more games with much better single player game play for use story loving gamers.
