@minja the wii really is only meant for new gamers featuring party games i have one because of zelda and mario galaxy but its only meant for new gamers............and ill be happy to help settle this fight send me a PS3 and ill let you know which one i liked best in 4 to 6 months
@minja ...well said sir
@dzzy *whispers* ...say a year then let me have the last 6 months
Im not trying to bash the PS3 but I fucking hate the controller on that thing, it's way too light and uncomfortable and the analog stick is way too awkwardly placed, which is obviously a huge problem. I hope they change that shit on the next gen consoles I usually love Sony's products but the PS3 I can't work with.
@ genji
If the PC is Daddy and the Mac is Mommy, does that make Grandpa the Commodore 64?
@Jhylla it also makes the amiga the red headed step child second cousin to that aunt you don't get along with.
Discussed the topic with Minja on twitter already...here are my 2 cents.
Face the facts, PS3 is superior hardware-wise...from an economical point of view it failed badly, thought. Sony is deep in the red figures by now. Why? My assumption is, it's just too far ahead of its time. Blu-ray is fine but it isn't established yet...only a fraction of the market owns a Hd ready Tv yet. The market of gamers that would invest 600$ for this high end technology console just is too small. Sega had a similar problem when they released the dreamcast, the first console with Internet connectivity, and it also flopped.
My prediction for the future is: In 2 years holo-disk will repalce the blu-ray. Microsoft will releses a console superior to the ps3 and lower advertising price. Sony will never reach the break-even point in this generation of consoles and will end up in big financial trouble.
Well, that's just a prediction and I hope it is wrong because I like Sony and loved my PS2.
I've got both, I like them both.
I don't buy that many games anyway, so which console has hundreds of games for it doesn't really bother me
Also, watching Blu Ray version of Iron man at the moment on the PS3, can't do that on the xbox... and if I could, I wouldn't be able to hear anything except the fans and drive...
I haven't bought a new game in 1 year and 1 day.
The last game i bought was Dynasty Warriors 6 Empires last week. Love it!
@Btab how do you adjust the font size/color in your signature?
@Kris.

i think i just bumped my PS3 likability from *crap system* to *decent system*
i don't have a ps3 and that's because i refuse the cash they want for one. i like the xbox360 and micrsoft was smart for lowering the price points. at this point the wii has run out of steam but i think they will too lower their price point as well.
like someone has already pointed out the ps3's price is absolutely killing them. they are in the red but still refuse to lower the price. they are doing out of spite because they know thats what people want them to do. i honestly don't know how sony can continue to be stupid.
Something alot of ppl dont know is that Microsoft 360 price dropped was only possible because they were selling old refurbished Red Ringers as new consoles. It`s a true story. Buyers beware.Chances are if you bought a 360 in the last year it was someone elses old red ringer. I just though you should know....
Microsoft
I have both, like them both. I've only had my PS3 for about a month so I've been playing that almost exclusively lately. Uncharted is one of the best games I've ever played. Can't wait for #2
What I don't get is that 95 out of 100 people you ask will say the HATE Microsoft...but yet so many people love the 360 like it's an aberration from MS's usual stream of crap. It isn't.
@sammy i'm sorry but you dont know nothing about the business, the PS3 is a expensive console to manufacture, sony already is selling them below the line of cost, that why they are losing money, in them low the price even more they would have to sell 2 to 1 xbox to make money
but since 2008 the ps3 is catching up, its already selling as much as the xbox arround the globe, just in USA the ps3 still behind in the market
but with tons of exclusives come out later this year, in the beggining of next year i wouldnt be surprise if the ps3 outsales the xbox even in usa, after the release of UNCHARTED 2, GOW III and HEAVY RAIN
@munnpope if i design a product and it cost a fortune to manufacture and its killing my companies bottom line....my boss is gonna tell me to redesign the product. they were hoping people would buy because of features. if the product is to costly to manufacture and balance sheets are in the red because of it something has to give. at some point you gotta move units.
@sammy: It's a little late to redesign the ps3 now.
I think Sony knew what they were doing, normally companies make some market tests before they release a product. The whole selling concept is long-term oriented...in my opinion that is really risky, though. I guess they assumed blu-ray would be more popular by now, what would have pushed their sales and would have allowed an earlier price drop.
@sonntag ps3 is in a little mess right now, i gues youre right about your market tests and long term oriented but i don't know about blue-ray cuz i havent used it on my ps3, i just used console memory just to watch movies.
There was an article (I'll try and find it) that broke down the costs of the xbox 360, the PS3, and the wii including 3 games, a controller, headset, batteries (for the xbox), and other accessories that people usually buy when getting a system. And surprisingly the price point difference between systems was less than $15.
Point being all these statements about the PS3 being so expensive are invalid.
@minja
this is my price point. to make it HD and getting COD with online.
PS3 80 gig = $400 +$30(hdmi cord) + $30 (blutooth) + $60 COD = $520
Xbox 360 60gig = $300 (a system that includes both HD cord and headset for online gaming) + $60 COD = $360
520 - 360 = $160 savings. where i can buy close to 3 new games or a 8 $20 games and so on and so forth....while you're stuck with 1 new game for the same exact price.
so to say there's no price difference.
PS3 loses MAJOR points for being a "HD quality system" without supplying a HD cord whatsoever. supplying crap system with a crap controller.
for shits an giggles about PS3 controller
"Again I say, why didn’t they update the controller this time? I mean, a REAL change? It’s getting pretty pathetic…"

and also.
remember this Epic Fail Minja? failed right when they showed it at E3

"If
@S0nntagskind very true, but what i was mainly referring to was make a lite version of the console.
@Todosho that's not a good example of a unbiased and fair price point comparison. Who buys only 1 game and who is to say that every ps3 owner is going to buy a bluetooth headset? Most everyone on the planet already owns one and who's to say someone doesn't already own a HDMI cord there are too many variable you have to make it universal among the purchases. In order to try and have a control you can't assume variables true but you need to do what the average family/person is going to purchase.
And the PS3 controller is awesome WAAAY better than the xbox and hey when something isn't broke why fix it? And as for E3 sony was by far the most exciting one to watch.
It's all subjective, however microsoft and nintendo have yet to meet the power that the PS3 system has, and that's a fact.
To add fuel to the fire and my two cents.
My close bud has all 3 of the next gen consoles. Whenever he has a party everyone goes for the PS3. No one goes for the 360 because they would rather play the PS3 and no one goes for the Wii because the games aren't aimed at hardcore gamers. Let's face it, the wii was made for family game night with bloody gore and skilled gaming left out of the picture. The only exceptions on the wii are Madworld, No More Heroes (Awesome game, a must buy) and The Conduit. The PS3 is a great gamer choice for the older, more hardcore crowd like us. The only thing in my mind that is wrong with the PS3 is the updating (takes a long time) and the price; other than that it is the crowned champ of this cock fight.
@minja
how is it unbiased and not a fair price point?
blutooth on the cheap end is $30.
HDMI on the "decent" end is $30. sure you could get one at $7, but do you really trust that.
who doesn't have one? let me see. i had to get one, cause apparently, PS3 doesn't supply a HD cable to go with its HDMI cord.
how *retard* is that. and no headset to be able to chat in game? again. how *retard* is that.
no i don't own a blutooth. cause i'm not lazy to hold my own damn phone to my ear or better yet. my phone has this thing called a Speaker Phone if i'm in the car driving.
cheapest PS3 40 gig is $400 or $399.99 to be fair.
cheapest xbox with 20gig memory is $299. right off the bat, i'm saving $100 to get 2 games. what do you have with the system. nothing. just a big piece of hardware that doesn't even have a output of 1080i or p.
xbox comes with a ethernet cord, headset, and HD cords in the box for $299.
PS3 has wifi and RGB cords for it's Stunning Bluray quality....??
by all means. they tried to "fix it" and got bashed before it even hit the market. that's a big Epic Fail.
i bought myself the "xbox" controller for my PS3, and now i like it a lil more.
KZ2 is one fun game, once you unlock stuff.
PS3 ALL DAY XBOX SUKS DIK
