I hate when people eat like animals. Don't smack your lips. Don't talk with your mouth full. There is no need for disgusting noises and slow the hell down gah!

Hell yeah, I hate that too. Especially when somebody is drinking something and they gulp really loud. I just hate that noise!

It amazes me how many people have no manners when it comes to eating. Hey if I'm at home alone eating and i chew with my mouth open or make a noise I'm fine with it. Now if I'm out in public I chew with my mouth closed, wait to swallow my food before I talk, and I definitely don't make noises while I eat. I watched a woman having lunch with her kids at a nice restaurant eating with her mouth wide open and talking the whole time. What the hell happened to at least table manners for gods sake? This is my biggest pet peeve.

I always close my mouth till it is empty to talk, and when someone want to talk while my mouth is full I put my hand up to their face in a "please wait" fashion, and swallow my food before I talk.

The worst is when they have food stuck to their face and they don't realize it and continue eating. Then you sit their silently thinking to yourself, should I tell them, make a suttle gesture, or just let them be.

Guilty as charged on all counts, although I am trying to make a conscious effort to imporve my table manners - we have kids that we are trying to teach good manners to.

People who pick, suck, and floss their teeth at the dinner table drive's me f'en nuts. It brings back painful memories of my grandmother. She used to subject me to hours of her personal hygiene at the table.

This is funny I've had many discussions regarding this matter. As it's a very cultural debate. For instance in Japan if you don't slurp your soup it's considered to be very rude. The thing I found funny about American culture and food is how we go out to eat and get these enormous portions of food set in front of us. Moreover when we don't get this kind of expected treatment we consider it in poor taste, "I'm never eating here again the portions are tiny etc etc." And we wonder why our nation is a nation full of fatties.
In fact our whole society is based around food. You don't know how many times we had a "business lunch." On the one hand it appeals to our nature as Americans to not only get a lunch but to be productive and efficient as possible by incorporating business at the meal. Whereas certain other countries see this as extremely rude. Regarding business meals in America more often than not most people don't realize this is more about the business and less about the meal. People will judge you (right or wrong) based on your manners at the table. I've seen good deals with potential go down the tubes because fatty can't stop stuffing his face. Look this isn't fucking godfather or the last don we're not in the mob. Show a little restraint for fucks sake. Things like blowing your nose in public, and especially at the table, is considered bad manners.
On the flip side because we get served these ginormous portions of food we are accustomed to leaving food on the plate (well some of us) because who the fuck can eat all that. Well in japan it's considered rude to not finish every last bit of food set before you down to the last piece of rice.
Americans in general are considered rude and often vulgar in terms of how we behave overseas especially when it comes to table manners. Simple things like the fork goes in the left hand and knife in the right (in the UK), keep your goddamn elbows off the table, bring the food to you rather than lean in towards it. Look you fat piece of shit the food isn't going anywhere how about you sit up straight and eat like a human not a fucking animal crouched and ready to defend his meal.
In France it's considered quite rude to not keep both hands on the table while seated there so on and so on. I've always found it interesting in my travels what we may consider rude is proper somewhere else and vose versa. That being said it is extremely annoying when some garbage wrapped in skin who is from the U.S. doesn't even follow even the slightest form of some social etiquette.
Sorry
