I'm sorry I just can't take this film seriously. I mean what other 80's kid franchise are they going to ruin for me.

as much as I hate to say it, this looks like it's going to be a steaming pile of crap to me. And the fact that they didn't let the media screen it for reviews doesn't boad well. That's not usually a good sign...But then it could be OKAY. we'll see.

(Unrelated note: By the way. I'm back! Yay! )

I think if you go in thinking this'll be a fun action flick with lots of cool splosions and fight scenes it'll work but it looks like they've taken some serious liberties with the characters.

I am a HUGE GI Joe fan, but this film looks like filth. Saying it is betetr than the piece of shit that was Transformers 2 is not saying much. I'll go read some GI Joe comics (still THE best adaptation of Joe), thank you.

Kind of like a Roger Moore era Bond film? Raises eyebrow.

Agree, being better than Transformers 2 is like saying I'd prefer swine flu to bird flu.

twitter.com/ninjutsucoder I'm not interesting or friendly.

Awalker with what you were saying about it months ago I'm pretty sure Sienna Miller would've had to pop out of the screen and give you a blowjob for you to like it.

    Sounds like a dvd rental.
Olivia could have played the role Sienna Miller did and not even needed the black wig. Although maybe it is good she didn't so she is not associated with a crappy movie.

-70% of the movie is action. Hand-to-hand combat, ninja fights, gun battles, futuristic weapon battles... and the big shock to anyone who watched the cartoon... PEOPLE ACTUALLY DIE (and not just faceless background characters.)

-Tons of beloved characters are in the film. Most are done well. There is even a surprising cameo by a good character I hope will be a bigger part of the next film.

-Yes there are some negatives. General Hawk should have been a different actor. Too many forced catch phrases from GI Joe's past. A couple Marlon Wayans scenes were lame (but they were very short.)

Put it this way... remember taking your GI Joes and having imaginary battles all over the place, each with some imaginary plotline running through your head? If they were to take several of those imaginary battles out of a kid's head and use today's technology to bring it to the big screen... that is what this movie would be.

It is almost nonstop action, featuring tons of characters you grew up with. If you were a fan of GI Joe in the 80's you NEED to see this film on either the big screen or on a giant home entertainment system.

@ricknw17 Olivia said on a stickam chat she actually went on a audtion for the part of the baroness in the G.I Joe movie and was disappointed she didn't get it. Looking back it was the absolute best thing that happened to her because now she's in Ironman 2 & Date Night and not that piece of shit!

@Rick, If Olivia was granted the role of the Baroness the fanboys would be raving how good the movie was no matter how much of a crapfest it turned out to be. There would be members of OMFG that would have seen it at least twice already, already have bought her "action figure" and all of the other paraphernalia related to the movie, hoarding it away until it could all be signed (hopefully) at the next Comic Con.

@awalker...that is really interesting. I didn't know she actually audition for the part. I know Ironman is May 2010, but do you know when the other movie comes out?

@magoo... you're absolute right. I would have gone seen it and bought the collectibles and any photos in hopes of getting them signed.
Maybe I can still do this for any Ironman 2 stuff that comes out with her image. Good idea, thanks magoo!
