I'm down for an OMFG Comic Con Meetup. Already ordered my four day passes.
I'll go 4 sure
I went to the Long Beach ComicCon since
it was close
But i'll go to the 2010
@briscojr Thats exactly why im asking if the meet up will be inside the con. What if not all of us are able to get tickets? An outside location would be cool beans, juss saying.
Honestly why not do both? If its possible to get something inside I'd say we should go for it to establish presence.
Then later if people on the message board wanna organize something we can. That way you can get the whole mass effect thing AT con, and something more personal with the people who are active later in the evening.
It's Gerrad who proposed this, but as I understand it, yes, it would be inside the con, and if Olivia has anything planned that will almost certainly be inside the con as well.
Holding something off site, later in the night, would be good for those that don't have tickets, but there also gets a point when this becomes more trouble to plan than fun.
I am willing to put in some effort and $$$ for this, but just figuring out where to start would be nice.
Look I got no problem taking point on organizing an in con event, even working on something post con. What I need help with is getting a petition started for people to express intrest in having a room at con. There is such a demand for con space and time they aren't gonna give it up lightly. Technically Olivia isn't even attached to the meetup inside, but I would have to imagine she would support a meet up of her fans.
Writing the proposal and stuff is easy, its showing the numbers that is important.
I have to think that even if only people who showed up for her exclusive surprise sighning signed the petition, that is several hundred signatures. A little advertisement via twitter or even if Olivia got wind and we could run some major numbers for the event.
Still bottom line we do something on our own in a public place downtown and eat or in Balboa Park or something.
I'll be there, can't wait to sign the petition.
@Glez38, I work/homework couldn't go to first CCLongBeach, how was it?
@Gerrad
This could not possibly be any unsexier. I mean, this is so ugly I'm ashamed I'm a part of it, but I guess it's functional.
Take a look, see what you think and if someone knows of a "nicer" looking site to do a petition go for it. We all have to sign our "name" and email address. The email address is NOT visible to anyone after you sign. As for name, I actually put my real name, and my forum name, but I'm sure either/or would be fine.
You know, that looks okay to me. Unsexy and I go together... I'm signed!
Let''s see what we can do with this over the next 3 months or so before the petition is due in January. Maybe one of Olivia's twitter folk (you know that she would recognize) could give her a heads up. She has more pull power to get people to sign it.
thanks Brisco.
Great, just saw that this is the same site used for the Cinnabon Girl petition as well. Instantly loses credibility based on that alone!
look on the bright side, Olivia DID tweet to sign that......
@Gerrad
I'm sure some folks in the Twitterverse have your e-mail address. Do you mind if I ask someone to give it to me? Nothing to do with this of course, just want to send you my first 58 chapters of Twilight fan-fic.
I am not on twitter sadly......but I need that fan fic.
Oh shit, anyone in the OMFG Fantasy Football league can email me, jack, FuRy, you can get it from them....
Roger roger. That's what I was after.
Will regale you with my impossible dreams shortly.
Just signed the petition, hope it goes through.
what about offsite, but near the convention center...like in the park area at the seaport village or open up petco park for the legions of Munn fans lol.
Don't think that an OMFG vs. G4 baseball game at Petco Park hasn't crossed my mind.
So I emailed Comic Con people and they will honor a junior price for me, which means I can afford to get the ticket now! Which also means I'm going to this awesome meet-up...it better happen! C=
Well, I've got some questions for those that came from out-of-state to go to Comic Con.
1. Recommendations on hotels? I'm sure the Comic Con web site will post something eventually on discounts with local hotels but I'd like to know which that are around are worth staying at.
2. Restaurants in the area. Start with cheap and work your way up.
3. Wildcards - What else is there to today besides Comic Con since it shows to end so early?
@hardliner
Start with this thread. Some of us shared our previous con experiance there with some easy tips.

As for food. You're pretty safe anywhere in the Gaslamp. They run from Burger King to fine dining, bars, foreign cuisine, you can eat pretty much in any price range.
I signed!
Hey lil' buddy! Are you going to Comic-Con?
Signed it. Still not goin though.
Signed it. Still trying to go!
I am going to bump this on occasion to try to drive signature totals...
Well, I'm 2/3 the way to being setup for Comic Con. Today, I got hotel reservations. Not kidding about how expensive the local hotels are getting during that time but I'll have the money saved up. It's a hotel within half a mile of SDCC.
Next up.. leaving on a jet plane..
Im all signed up and ready to go!......Is it 2010 yet?
