   Hey guys

   I took a few minutes this week to talk to the event planner at Con, Rod Mojica. He is in charge of booking events and setting up officially recongnized meets at Con. I asked him what we would need to do to get an official (or even unofficial) meeting place dedicated specifically to OMFG at next years con.

   He told me that in January I can submit a request for a meetup to him and he will pass it along to the event planner. Now he didn't seem exactly enthusiastic about our chances of getting something accomplished, but he did agree that when I submit the form to list all possible meeting times, including post con. To be honest, I don't think he really realized the amount of people who would show up to this if it was an official meetup.

   Long story short I wanted to see if you guys would be interested in this. A lot of people are going to Con and I thought if you were maybe we could create an online petition. I am sure with enough names that they would have to be swayed right?

   I haven't got an official standing with OMFG but I do think it would be great to have a place to mix and meet up during con and get to say hi. There is no guaruntee that Olivia would come of course, but really this is for us to get together and maybe share some stories. If enough of us sign up and even request it, I am sure we could arrange something.

   I can create the petition form when the time comes, but what do you guys think?

   Would it just be like an empty convention room, and is there any cost?

   I think it's a fab idea, but do we dare dream bigger?

   Depends on what the event planner says. I think big dreams in a room in the con hall as an officially recognized event.

   Worse case is an empty room after con. The big deal is that we need to get enough signatures or email requests to convince the team at SDCC to do it.

   I think I will be going next year and it sounds like a cool Idea.

   But if it doesn't happen, several post in the past here have suggested a meetup off site after the con hours as another option too. So that can be your backup plan.

    Comic Con's getting busier and busier every year. I don't know if they would have the room. Maybe we could get room in the chunk of the new addition they are adding on the event center. Also, I live close (10 minutes away) so I could camp a room a couple months ahead of time.

    If what Gerrad suggested happens, then I think it would be like an "official" event within the San Diego Convention Center. That would be very cool, but I'm also thinking something off-site might be cool too.

    My crazy dream would be if we could rent one of the convention rooms the hotels have for a couple of hours (there are dozens, if not hundreds, in the area), get some booze and om nom noms, and invite some of the G4 folks to join us. At least a dozen obstacles to overcome there, but I do like myself a challenge.

    Oh, and @luscious lou - saw you ask about tickets on Peaches thread. They've been on sale for a while, and I believe the preview night tickets are sold out now already. Check out the SDCC site for details:

    As far as it goes, nothing is official, but thats what I proposed to the event manager. If we wanted an official meetup we would need all of the materials possible to generate a spot in a very packed convention hall. I don't really know how to set up an online petition, so if someone can help with that it would be great. Prolly need names and an email address I'd guess.

    In the proposal I would request either an event DURING the con, or in the con hall post convention hours (like 630 or so)

    Still very sketchy at this point, mainly I wanted to see if we would get enough of a turnout to warrent it.
