    How about having a visible post count for each member and when you hit a certain threshold you get a title i.e.
    <200 Newbie
    201 - 500 Pie filler
    501 - 1000 Pastry Chef etc...

    I've seen it on other boards and think it is a cool feature.

    And then people start to judge others based on this.

    Ohh, good for you.
    And how was it?

    I dont know, its a pretty basic and simple forum, I kind of like it that way. Maybe a few frills, but nothing that would over do it.

    @Btab
    isn't it part of basic human rights to namelessly flame other human beings on the internet for no discernable reason other than to hate them for not agreeing with or being equal to your own fervor.

    I am pretty sure that was part of the contract I first signed with AOL back in the day.

    @Gerrad. Oh...true...let the post-counting commence!
    But another reason is that people post useless things (moreso than usual) just to increase post count.

    Real forums have ranks just so you know who has been there for awhile and who the noobs are. It's meant so you can ask the vets some basic questions and alleviate some pressure from the mods. As well as a means to help to make the noobs feel welcome a hierarchy of sorts. It can potentially end up in a pissing contest for post counts but that's mostly with the younger teenage crowd. All that aside this forum isn't really big enough to justify ranks I mean we have a whole 2 mods for fucks sake Unless they make custom ranks but it doesn't really serve a point. Having to redesign the forums. Probably would have been better just to use a known format from the get go but oh well. We're stuck with this proprietary clusterfuck.

    Truthfully ranks are prolly unnessecary. I think for the most part the regular crowd knows who is who, noobs are pretty much recognized. What always surprises me is how many people comment on Olivia's posts, but don;t show up on the forums.
