i just made one and i really don't see what the hype is. its like a shittier, bare-bones facebook that seems more stalkerish. instead of getting friends, you fucking follow people? and you don't need their approval to follow them? i could be followed by a 45 year old sexual predator!

but i could just see that on this site so it was kind of pointless.
i have 4 followers now! and i think one of them isn't a real person but like a spam bot...

origins: the way I heard first about twitter was from olivia <3 and I made an account when I went to the hard music fest in hollywood on halloween wknd '08 to see a few of my fav bands crystal castles, justice, boys noize and have been using it everrr since as a way to keep my real friends in the loop on what i'm up to but I perfer not to have any followers unless they actually know me

I made a Twitter account when it first came out. Bunch of my friends got one two. I posted once and quit the site. Many of my friends soon followed suit. But when I found out celebrities started having accounts, I came back. And when I saw that many people at G4 had them, I decided to follow them. I have brought some friends back to the site to stalk, I mean follow some celebrities.

I know what you mean but twitter isn't really that much of a social netowrk for me... i think of it as a daily news feed from celebrities..website like movie websites since I love movies or video games.
and if something pisses me off i tweet it just to get it off my chest.
but i mostly made it to follow Olivia and Kevin and a few of my friends to know wat they're up to.

I use it mostly to stalk, sorry, follow Olivia, and now also Haislip. It's a lazy stalkers tool.
For the record I have 18 followers now, about 3 are real people... It is a bit creepy.

Twitter is not for dating, thats what make it awsome its all about passing information, finding funny stories and news, and for following your favorites. But twitter can also make you famous it gets your name out their lets you promote what ever. Its King I only go on sites like Facebook to find cute girls to date thats all Facebook is good for to me.

You can set it so they need to be approved by you before they can see your updates, you know.

the true key to twitter is to follow people you are interested in learning something about and/or share interests with...and it is much less about following people you already know and are friends with...e.g. i follow several eco-friendly people and sites, as well as several scuba related sites...i get interesting and useful info from them and opportunities for discounts from some of them as well...
a great deal of what i do is re-tweet info & reply to others, e.g. olivia, alyssa, jill & jessica, and occasionally get a reply back...i probably tweet what i am doing once, maybe twice a day, since most of the poeople on twitter don't know me and don't care...

So true I agree totally with @TrojanMayhem and @BurningChrome. An I hate how people compare twitter to the facebooks and myspace. Those are dating sites am I wrong when I go on those sites I see girls showing their ass in thongs and showing their boobs in bras. An those news companies on facebook trip me out, I think to myself do they know that people use these sites for booty calls and text sex.

for me it's a faster way to keep up with my friends and family. i don't get on facebook as much, and i don't have the interwebs on my phone so it's nice to get tweets as to what my buddies are up to. and i follow olivia and kevin, and a bunch of other G4 peeps cus they entertain me lol.

well i mean i get it but it makes sense to think of it as more of a celebrity thing instead of a keep-in-touch thing. i feel like facebook is better for finding people you haven't seen in years or that you live really far away from and twitter is better for just sharing random information and stories....
that's my grasp on things as of now
