I just hope I look better in my Slave Leia outfit than AnotherA does in his. I know he's all Mr. P90X guy, and busy getting in shape, but 2 can play that game. I'm in training as well, and fully intend to do 1 push-up before July.

Yes, even though this was a much better idea than the Cinnabon Girl petition, they both suffered the same fate. Not all bad news though, instead of the OMFG meet-up, we'll now be having a Kuff's viewing party in Gerrad's room instead. Did everyone else's invitation say "pants optional"? You all did get invitations too, right?

Yo Gerrad, now that we're in mid-Feb., any word yet on what may or may not be going down with that idea you had for an OMFG meting-ground/conference-type spot @ SDCC? I think it's a bad-ass idea & just wanna know where to sign/online a petition or raise my hand and be counted as interested. Oh and sorry in advance, I didn't dig through all the posts to just find if this has been answered already; I mean- it's not a dis but it seems like the thread's starting to wander a little bit & I get a little ADD'ish... A friend of mine was in a documentary two years ago at con, about the struggles of breaking into the biz. Still hasn't been released yet. I guess breaking in pretty much any medium is hard.

@magoo - I know what you mean, and I'm obviously joking, but as a central "theme" I still think the filmmaker's won't come up with a better hook than 30-40 total strangers from all around the world whose only initial connection was a fan web site. AnotherA and SquirrellySquirrel coming from other countries to attend is pretty cool too. @Dave-O - Why don't you see if you can film the making of Whedon and Spurlock's documentary, and I'll film you filming it. Your footage can be the "Making of" the documentary on the special features, and mine will be the "Making of the Making of" the documentary, and for some reason will only be included with Blu-Ray copies of "Stop Or My Mom Will Shoot."

Every year there are always a bunch of groups doing "documentaries." A few years back I walked by a group of amateur doc-makers who were being interviewed by another group that was doing a doc about people who film Comicon docs. How meta.

Man, i'd love to meet up over there with the crew, but sadly i dont thnk it'll happen this year. The last time i went to SDCC was back around 06 or 07, and since then it has expanded to the point it's just so bloody damn crowded to even walk. In consolation, i think im going to stop by the local comicon down by Long Beach on the 20th, and by AnimeExpo 2010 in july. But i dont know if im going to go to comiccon.[Wish i could.] As far as normality is concerned, OMFG is definantly one of the more simplistic and down-to-earth than the rest of the CC.

@Brisco - OMFG is not even close to the top of the geekiness mountain when it comes to SDCC, even when combined. I would have used up all of my camera's memory just capturing pictures of over/underweight (mostly overweight) cosplayers from lastyear, and I was only on the convention floor one day. OMFG would be considered a sample of the normal populace that was visiting SDCC.

As good as it is, I think the Viewer Army idea has been topped. This might turn out to just be a rumor, but Eonline is reporting that <a href="http://www.eonline.com/uberblog/b167383_joss_whedon_looking_comic-con_superfans.html">Morgan Spurlock and Joss Whedon are making a documentary about Comic Con</a>. And get this, they're looking for a group of fans who are going to the Convention to base the movie around. Anyone know Whedon's phone number, because we really should tell him about the Olivia Alvin fan group.
