PAX East is coming up quick and I know everyone is getting excited. They have confirmed a bunch of guests including: Wil Wheaton, Microsoft, Nintendo, EA, 2K Games, Ubisoft and more!!! Should be a good time, hopefully we'll get a look at Splinter Cell Conviction and Natal before they release. I'm hoping Olivia will give us a thumbs up or down to whether G4 will be there. I know I'm hoping she shows us east coast fans come love and shows up and maybeeeee throws a kick ass G4 party????? Also anyone here who is attending feel free to comment. I pre-registered and ordered a three day pass. We should definitely plan a meet-up.Most kick ass parties are going down Saturday night so that makes Friday night prime for a G4 party. What day/ nights are good for everyone?

Hey guys I took a few minutes this week to talk to the event planner at Con, Rod Mojica. He is in charge of booking events and setting up officially recongnized meets at Con. I asked him what we would need to do to get an official (or even unofficial) meeting place dedicated specifically to OMFG at next years con. He told me that in January I can submit a request for a meetup to him and he will pass it along to the event planner. Now he didn't seem exactly enthusiastic about our chances of getting something accomplished, but he did agree that when I submit the form to list all possible meeting times, including post con. To be honest, I don't think he really realized the amount of people who would show up to this if it was an official meetup. Long story short I wanted to see if you guys would be interested in this. A lot of people are going to Con and I thought if you were maybe we could create an online petition. I am sure with enough names that they would have to be swayed right? I haven't got an official standing with OMFG but I do think it would be great to have a place to mix and meet up during con and get to say hi. There is no guaruntee that Olivia would come of course, but really this is for us to get together and maybe share some stories. If enough of us sign up and even request it, I am sure we could arrange something. I can create the petition form when the time comes, but what do you guys think?

It was the panel at Comic Con where Olivia talked about her deal with Atom.com to star in a Star Wars fan film. I know some OMFGers were there. Did any of you take video or pictures? I was on that panel (the guy with the OMFG sign on his badge) and would love to see it again. Olivia and I had some nice discussions about pies. Man, that was crazy! So here's my take. I got there around 9:40 and got in line just beyond where the line passed the boundary of the designated booth. She showed up, I could hear cheering and a crowd instantly gathered and the line wrapped around the duplex booth. I couldn't see anything. Around 10:30 she announced security was kicking her out of the booth. She walked out but then stopped 20 feet away in the corridor creating a huge mob scene. This lasted less than 2 min and she announced they were asking her to leave the building! Security started escorting her away quickly and the mob moved as one. If I had lifted my feet I probably would not have fallen. As the mob followed it thinned a little as people started to run. I never saw Olivia again inside the building as she was moving quickly. The mob started to run down the hallway and we were all dodging other people and obstacles. We were laughing at how strange this was as people stared at this mob running through the crowded convention, yelling at us "too late! they're out" and other stupid things. At one point I saw Peter Mayhew in his booth stare wide eyed at us as I ran just 5 feet from him. It was surreal. Someone mentioned don't fall because you'll be trampled. Everyone streamed by other helpless convention goers. I saw one little girl on a cell phone standing helplessly as everyone ran to either side of her. And then someone yelled "food court!" Oh shit, chairs and people and tables! It was like Ninja Training negotiating the obstacles and everyone was wondering how far were we going? Finally we turn off and up the stairs! Luckily I train on stairs and blew past people up them and finally we were outside on the convention center patio. She went down the first flight of stairs and stopped while we were made to stop at the top. I had managed to make it to near the front, but I had read the email too quickly and didn't have OMFG proof so I had to wait almost an hour to meet Olivia. Someone called it the Running of the Munns and she even made a reference to it on the G4 broadcast on Sat which was great. I was pissed I didn't think to video tape it, it would have been great stuff! Thanks to Olivia for the fun time and for sticking around to make sure she hugged, signed for and took a pic with each and every person in line. She didn't leave until just before noon. The AOTS panel was at 1:30 so by the time I got in line it was hopeless. The line was all the way down the hallway and all the way down the back hallway. I figured the line was 3x the capacity of the room. I had been in that room for another panel the day before and was dismayed at how small it was. AOTS needs to be in a bigger room. If it's a cost problem, I have no problem buying a ticket in advance online to guarantee a spot. Another thing, the previous day I had been in line for 20 min for Alison Haislip at the G4 booth before someone said you needed a wristband. WTF? I left the line pissed and literally less than 10 min later I ran into her and got a pic and autograph with no waiting. Sometimes it works out! I didn't bother trying to get a chance for the AOTS signing on Sat. I didn't want to spend all that time in line just to draw a ticket for a chance. I already met Olivia and Alison so I was happy. And I'll never forget the Running of the Munns! Did anyone shoot video of this?

I'll begin just after the atom.com booth gets "shut down"... Once the decision was made to go out front, I started, along with everyone else, to make my way out front. Olivia tried to take photos along the way, however, that wasn't working out too well. She sure does draw a crowd! I was next to the security guard that suggested going out back on the landing. Once he said that, I started to head that direction. The "Running of the Munns" was, to put it lightly, fierce! I've never seen so many people jockey for line position, myself included. heh. Luckily, I was able to dodge trash cans, little kids, jawas, chairs, tables, and anything else in my way. I guess I had decent line position because as I made my way out the exit near the 2000 aisle, I saw Olivia was half way up the right stairs, and most everyone seemed to follow her that way. The left set of stairs seemed rather empty, so I took that. I ended up passing roughly 5 people going up that set of stairs. I must have eaten my Wheaties that morning or something. Once I got to the top of the left set of stairs, I saw that Olivia had made it to the top of the right stairs. Cool. Got outside, was near the front of the line. The line formation was pretty amazing in that it seemed to happen on it's own. It was a *little* malformed, with the end of the line being 3 or so people across, and the front of the line being 10 or 12 people across. I was in the 10 to 12 people across section. doh. Still though, I had my OMFG sign (freshly printed that morning) and held it up. Eventually, I was called and walked up to meet her and get my photo taken with her. Here is how the conversation went: JT: "Hi Olivia! I'm Joel, it's great to meet you." OM: "Hi Joel! Are you in the army?" JT: "Um, no, why do you ask?" OM: "Well, you look really strong!" JT: "Oh. Normally, I don't get "star struck". I work for a Seattle radio station and meet many celebrities, and usually it's not that big of deal. Meeting Olivia Munn was different for me. She seems like a good person, who is great to her fans. Olivia, whether or not you read this, just wanted to say thanks. To all my OMFG line buddies, good show! We'll have to do that again next year, though hopefully, we plot our marathon path through areas with less chairs and tables

First, thanks you Dave-O for the detailed description of the parts I missed at the OMFG meetup. I wondered where everyone went after they kicked people out. Here's my short recap of what I saw. I was lucky enough to be close to the front of the line since I got there early. (although several people did cut in when the line looped around the booth and some non OMFG's were getting in line). Awalker was 2 or 3 people behind me in line, so I introduce myself to him. He was a really cool and friendly guy. When I finally got to the front of the line, the staff were already complaining about stopping this unofficial gathering. But I hurried over to Olivia and get a big hug then joked about it being nice to meet my future wife and she laughing answer, "we would have nice looking Asian kids" (since I am Asian). So I get my pic with her and I get a quick autograph and move out of the way so other OMFG'er and get there pics. She is absolutely beautiful in person. A little while later, I see a big crowd moving around and I guess that is when they got kicked out and I eventually lost sight of where they went. I eventually go over and try to see the AOTS panel but get locked out as they cut off the line. ( I got there 1 1/2 hours earlier too) I did see Olivia, Kevin and Blair leave the event as they are escorted away. On the second day, I did see Awalker again upstairs about to get in line at the AOTS autograph signing. ( I had a fight to catch so I didn't think I could make the late signing) Got some details from him about the panel I missed since he was a VIP at the panel. (Saw him go into the back entrance with the stars.) Eventually went and saw some of the taping of the AOTS, in between trying to see everything else. Again, both Olivia and Kevin were really friendly with the fans. Often waving to the fans during commercial breaks. Sorry I didn't get to meet other OMFG as it was so crazy packed with people everywhere. Sometime you just want to find a quiet spot to relax. Overall a cool experience for a first time Comic Con visitor.
