Congratulations Senator Al Franken
Former Plateful guest, Al Franken was unanimously declared the winner of the longest contest for U.S. Senate in the state’s history today by the Minnesota Supreme Court. After nearly eight months, millions of dollars in legal fees, two appeals and a recount, GOP incumbent Norm Coleman conceded saying,
“In these tough times, we all need to focus on the future. And the future today is: we have a new United States Senator. I congratulate Al Franken and his victory in this election.”

As for Franken, I always thought he was pretty funny on SNL, but he also looks like someone who would own lots of cats. That really has no relevance as to his ability to represent his state, but I don’t live in MN, so it’s time for a ‘witty’ reference to his comedic days (hi-yo):

This is why are country is great. A congressional recount in the U.S takes 8 months to recount and confirm what most of us already knew. If this was Iran and a presidential election it would take all of a week and people would still be calling bullshit.
what’s worse, on election night Norm Coleman won by 700 votes. Then those dishonest evil democratic liberals started cheating and all of a sudden, votes were found in the most unlikely places. Iranian elections are more honest than one with the unfunny Al Franken.
Hopefully one day people will realize that the problem is not which party controls the government. The problem is that the government has too much power. Politicians are frauds by nature. They have to be watched and kept in check, not worshiped. They don’t need to be telling us what to do, we need to be telling them what to do. As long as things keep going in the opposite direction, things will keep getting worse.
Right now, we are going to go bankrupt because the Democrats care more about their political agenda than they do about reality. They’ve quadrupled Bush’s deficit in one year. China and Japan have warned us that they won’t keep funding our debt forever. People are going to be using dollars as toilet paper before long. But hey, now the Democrats have their “big chance” to do all the stupid, crazy garbage they’ve been wanting to do since 1950, and they’re going to use it! WOO HOO!!! All of us under 40 are going to spend the rest of our lives in a dead economy trying to pay it off.

Coleman had a long and successful career in the US Senate. He did eventually lose, but that happens to most politicians.

LOL! Officer Candidate School is after college! I was accepted because I had very good grades, and I was able to get my senator to give me a letter of recommendation.
Just think about it for a second. Al Franken IS George W. Bush. They both have an Ivy League education, they’re both millionaires, and they’re both complete failures. The only difference is that George Bush has a lot more political experience than Franken.

So you are 22 and you think that a Harvard graduate (cum laude) who is elected to the US Senate and is a multi-millionaire and was able to get on a top show, get a book deal and get a national radio show is a failure.

First of all I’m a fraction of Franken’s age, so you should probably give me some time before you criticize me. My point was that Franken has failed at everything he’s tried. I’ve graduated from college too, and I just got accepted into Officer Candidate School. I’m only 22 and I’m somewhat successful, but Franken has been nothing but a failure for his entire life.
SNL: Fired because they figured out he wasn’t funny.
Publisher: Dropped due to lack of book sales (I just found a hardcover of his latest book on sale for a dollar).
Radio: Dropped due to lack of listeners.
Commentator: No one wants to hear from him because he’s a dumb asshole.
Senator: He barely beat a guy who had an awful approval rating before the election.

Actually Colman won election night, it was Franken who started the long process. More people voted in some areas than the population. votes were actually “found” in someone’s trunk.. they went for Franken. The vote talliers were “tired and made mistakes” but only on that one issue and then they all went to Franken. Look I don’t care who wins… but I am so sick of the fraud we have in our system.
