Brian K. Vaughn leaves “lost”

brian k. vaughn

Lost executive producer Damen Lindeloff has confirmed that writer Brian K. Vaughn has left the show in it’s final season for “greener pastures“.

Vaughn started on the show midway through season 3.

No one knows what the green pastures are, but it might be to help get his movies up and running. His comicĀ Ex Machina is in development over at BenderSpink, Y: The Last Man is kinda stalled at New Line/Warner Brothers, and his King Arthur movieĀ Roundtable is being developed at Dreamworks. So, hopefully that means we’ll get to see some of these movies on the big screen soon.

Inside sources are saying he’s actually left to become my best friend. I can neither confirm nor deny that. But, that’s only because saying “I can neither confirm nor deny that” implies that it is true- that Brian K. Vaughn left Lost to become best friends with me, Olivia Munn. So, I can neither confirm nor deny that rumor.

  1. olivia has so many best friends, i think she colects them the way i collect stamps
i’m just kidding i dont collect stamps

  2. If that rumor is true, he seems like he’d make a good friend. Talk about devotion. Quitting your day job for Olivia Munn’s friendship?

Oh Mr. Vaughn hopefully you’ll finally get one of your film projects up off the ground. Don’t let Olivia’s wiles blind you, Y movie comes first. :P

  4. olivia new bff lol

  5. Umm…yay? Maybe?

  6. Thats awesome Olivia! Hopefully will not hurt the last season of LOST Such an amazing show. So if I say I’m leaving my job for greener pastures will you be my best friend Olivia?

  7. Grammatically, that doesn’t actually imply a confirmation. You may infer it, but it’s not implied. So, is he your new bestest friend?

  8. That’s to bad. He’s an awesome comic book writer, and I feel he got Lost back under control once he got there.

  9. season 3 is when it started to go down hill for me. So im not too worried

    • He joined during season 3, and most people think he’s at least partly responsible for saving it from its own crapness (see seasons 4 and 5, which were awesome).

  10. Will lost make more or less sense without him as writer?

  11. If he’s done because the final season is written, great. But if he left early, he must not have liked the direction it was going. Whether Lost ends up being one of the greatest sci-fi series of all time is going to depend on how it ends. Now I’m a little worried.

  12. Not to belittle your possible new-best-friendship, but i’d like to see the YTLM movie. If I can’t get that I guess you can just be best friends.

  13. Well, at least he leaves just before “Lost” last season as opposed to during the middle of the series.

  14. If someone leaves LOST and there is noone there to see it it does he make a sound.

  15. Oh Olivia, you so crazy!!

  16. Maybe it’s because I don’t live in Hollywood, and am not in the ‘biz’. But I am just wondering why should I give a flamin’ rats turd why a writer left a tv show? Just sayin’…

    • If it was an actor or actress that left a show, then I could see how it would be worth bloggin’ about. But a writer?! ‘Mmmkay.

      .

      • Um, you know writers are the ones who actually think up and create the shows, movies, and comics you enjoy, right? The actors are important, no doubt, but it all starts with the writers. So if a writer leaves - especially one as talented as BKV - that actually could potentially change the show a great deal.

  17. that show blows anyway.
    it’s so unwatchable.

  18. BKV! NOOOO! He’s the best. I hope he writes Olivia into the Y:TLM Movie as Dr. Mann. haha

  19. HAhaHA! I started reading the bottom part there and actually thought it was serious for a second, lol! I need to go to sleep.

  20. I think Munn’s trying to line up her next movie gig. ;-)

  21. lost=shit

  22. if i work on the show “Lost” i would resign just to be best friends with olivia…seriously..

  23. Yeah, last season is already pretty much finished and Lindelof, Cuse and Abrams will finish off the last touches- you know they’re going to be hands on the majority of the final episodes to prevent leakage and spoilers.

After all, you have to protect the secrets of the best show to ever been on television in history!

  24. If the best friend rumor is true, then its a good chance that you’re getting that part in Y the Last Man that wanted. But as you say, only a rumor…….

  25. What is Lost?

  26. I don’t know who that is, but I’ve heard some plausible rumors here today.

  27. Brian is one of the top writers in the business right now. If he can EVER get a Y TV series (on HBO or SHowtime) or film launched that is great. I’d like to see him do some more comic book work truthfully…

  28. The last season is probably already written so it doesnt matter.

  29. She lost me at “I can neither confirm nor deny that”…

  30. Olivia takes another writer. She is gathering them for her studio audience tv show that will air on Oxygen….another rumor to throw out there

  31. He told me what happens in the ending of lost.
    .
    .
    .
He is the island. BOOM IN YO FACE NIGGA!

  32. Brian needs to get back on the Runaways….for realz…..

  33. Not a fan of the show. It will be interesting to see if he can get Ex Machina or Y: The Last Man into production now.

  35. So being best friends I’m assuming you’ll be starring in all his movies?

Brian’s a good writer. It’ll be interesting to see what he does next.
