Why did you start a web site?

OLIVIA MUNN: I waited a long time to start one because I wasn’t sure what I would want to say or do with it. I kept it in the back of my mind for a really long time before I realized I should just start and let it turn into something organically. I launched my blog at last year’s Comic-Con in San Diego by doing a “24 Hours With Me” to give the fans a personal, inside lookat what goes on from my point of view. After that I went to Japan where I reallystarted shooting my own content and skits and also mastering iMovie. Now I want the site to be a place where people go everyday to see what’s going on in the world, fun reviews and really just a place to go to get a laugh.

What’s this Lisa Munn business?

OLIVIA MUNN: My full name is Lisa Olivia Munn. I always went by Lisa, until right before I shot my Nickelodeon show Beyond the Break… that’s when I decided I wanted to go by Olivia. Why? Honestly, if felt like a new start for me. I didn’t have the best childhood and there were lots of family issues that I was trying to escape from. So, when the time came to submit my theatrical name for the show, I decided that I wanted to go by my middle name. My friends and family didn’t really have a hard time adjusting to calling me Olivia —my sisters and brothers already called me that from time to time.AndIthink my little brother changed my name in his phone to Olivia so that everytime I called, he saw that…and that’show he got used to it. Wanna know what I find extremely annoying? People who call me Lisa just because they want to act like we’re super close and all buddy-buddy. The closest people to me call me Olivia. The people who are pretending call me Lisa — and they always accentuate it like, “So, what are you doing, Liissaaaa?”

I heard you moved around a lot when you were younger? What was your upbringing like?

OLIVIA MUNN: My mom remarried when I was 2 and he was in the Air Force. So we moved to Utah first then Japan, then Oklahoma, then Japan-Oklahoma-Japan…Most of those years were in Tokyo, Japan. I love Japan and try to go back every year.

What was your “Most Likely To” in high school?

OLIVIA MUNN: I was talking to a friend recently — she’s actually the friend I’ve known the longest when we met in 8th grade — and she was saying that whenever I said I wanted something, I would get it. When I wanted to be on the varsity cheerleading team, I worked out everyday by myself after school until tryouts… When there was something I wanted, I would work hard to get it. So I can’t say what I was “most likely to become” in high school — but my friends can, and according to this friend it was whatever I wanted….hhhmm.. Now, I wish for a hoverboard!

What about college?

OLIVIA MUNN: I went toThe University of Oklahoma and majored in Journalism, with two minors — one in Japanese and one in Dramatic Arts.

So, I know this is kinda personal, but did it hurt the first time you…um…you know…got your ears pierced?

OLIVIA MUNN: Wow…totally thought that questionwas gonna end differently. I was 8 years old and my mom took all the girls to get their ears pierced. I saw my cousin go first and she screamed and I was like, “Heellllll no!” But, my mom forced me and I cried so hard. I hated the loud pop of the gun in my ear…That scared the crap out of me. Wait! I just realized that’s probably why I’m deathly afraid of the sounds of balloons popping.
I actually have a second piercing on each ear. In 8th grade, my older sisters asked my mom to get a second piercing and she forced me to do it, too. Seriously! She peer pressured me and said, “Come on, everyone’s doing it. It’ll be cool.” That made me not want to do it even more. But, I did it. And after the hole healed, I took out the earring and have never worn a second earring since.

When did you get your first real kiss?

OLIVIA MUNN: I was never a big dater. I just wasn’t that into boys. My first real kiss was horrible. I had a peck before, but this story is about my first real, wet kiss. So gross just thinking about it. Well, it was my first date and we were going tothemovies. I guess from watching tons of movies, I had this idea in my head that when you go to the movies with a boy, you’re supposed to make out the whole time…and the movie was ForestGump.I made out with this guy through the entire movie — it was Forest Gump! One of the longest movies ever! I had spit on me all through the awkward leg brace years. A tongue downmy throat while Forest fought in Vietnam. And by the time Jenny was coming back to get knocked up, my date wastrying to shovehis thumb in my mouth! What isthat about?I was so sick of kissing him after that.

I heard you like pie?

OLIVIA MUNN: I love it! I’ll tell you a never told before story — the day I realized my love for pie was, in fact, an obsession gone wrong. I was playing a game with a friend that I like to play — tell me something about you that no one knows. He told me that the other day he ran a stop sign in a school district. In turn I told him the other day I snuck away from dinner to eat two pieces of pie and I ate it quietly so noone would hear me. That’s when I knew I had a problem. Banana Cream is my favorite. With either meringue or Cool Whip right out of the tub.
